Yes as I found out a speed restriction at Brookwood, not so at Ashurst New Forest tho, as she powered through with a lusty whistle.

Yes my bad typing (now corrected) should have said note rather than not.
I had to replay my camcorder footage, yes the whistle had ceased by the time of that image, but they were blowing it for so long at the time I thought that included under the bridge. Looking back it is just visible in addition to the safety valve steam in this distance shot.

The steam brake is for the loco only, the rest of the train is vacuum braked.

Sorry, the fact that it was a typo just didn't occur to me for some reason - thanks. Anyway - a fine shot.

A few of my shots of 35018 back on home ground at Brookwood this morning (low res versions). In the third picture she passes what remains of the Brookwood Necropolis Railway: 35018 brookwood 3.JPG

These and other shots prompt me to ask about the high-intensity headlight requirements - it's great to see a fairly dim light (even allowing for the very bright day), and I've noticed 35028 also has a far dimmer light than so much other traction these days. I've even seen 35028 running with the light covered over. What is required to be displayed?

Thank you. You are very kind.
Not some of my better efforts today as we worried about our position being blocked by the London stopper coming in so I was checking over my shoulder and keeping an eye on 35018's progress. The second shot I left a bit late with some railway furniture protruding in front of 35018. Still, glad I was able to see her this morning.

Here is a short video I also captured from this morning:

I might pop out again, just to one location for the return, but these are some of my captures from this morning (Sandhills Footcrosssing near Virginia Water and Southampton Central) - 707003 is the unit that almost bowled me

Much better - it looks like Network Rail replaced the woodwork of the footcrossing (under the grippy roof felt style surface) recently and dealt with the ants nest at the same time, only saw 2 ants, not thousands. While they were at it they fixed the vandalized crossing gates, although whoever did it had no clue about how a 'kissing' gate is designed as the gate on the west side now springs back against the outside of the post and no longer swings inside the 'V' of the kissing gate.

Going very nicely at Mottisfont & Dunbridge, this evening. Crazy to think she was in, near enough, Barry condition only 7(?) years ago! Looking forward to compiling today's couple of shots with whatever footage I get of her on Tuesday.

Edit: I've stuck the shot from Mottisfont on my Facebook page:

Had a run down to Southampton to see this beast. Roadworks on the M271 caused unexpected delays and we got to Millbrook with 5 minutes to spare. Talk about cutting it fine. The perils of railway photography!
Impressed by how smart it looked. Clan Line has some competition. Looking forward to my run behind this engine on Tuesday to Yeovil and Weymouth.
