Hooray, praise the lord. Things are at last looking a bit better. Whilst perambulating through Leeds station today my eyes were drawn to the Azumas (very quiet compared to the 91's), the new Class 331's and.......wait for it............the Southport service was newly refurbed Class156. Whoever has done the refurb has done a damn good job. Pacers were 'thin on the ground'.
WE just need Trans Pennine to get their act together and introduce the push pull Class 68's and it's happy days

I wouldn't hold your breath on the last of those. Like most products from CAF (increasingly known as "Cheap As F***" in the industry), there have been a raft of problems getting the carriages fit for service; so much so that TPE are rumoured to have suspended driver training.

Likewise, rumours from the Merseyrail area say that the new units are suffering from 'design and manufacture issues' and also Network Rail are unable to complete infrastructure modifications in time for the 2020 introduction...

A new 195 set parked in Huddersfield today. No wires over t'Pennines after Leeds so we need DMU's. A couple of those 68's would be nice

Now take care of it - we know that Yorkshiremen tend to be a little insensitive around machinery ! ;)

All decent mechanics and fitters have a 4lb lump hammer in their tool box.:) and if the 4lb doesn't fix it....................................get a bigger hammer.:D

Aye - reminds me of the old computer joke. Head of computing shows the company's CEO the latest computer at work when it suddenly stops without reason. The head calls out the maintenance engineer who walks round the computer, withdraws a hammer from his toolbox and hits the computer hard; it re-starts immediately much to the amazement of the CEO who asks "How much will that cost the company ?". "That'll be £10,000:00" replies the engineer. "But that's extortionate" exclaims the CEO "How can you justify that ?" "Easy" notes the engineer "£100:00 is call-out fee and £9900:00 is for knowing where to hit the hammer !!"
