Have to hope GWR have better luck with crewing than SWR on the Corfe services then.

Cause it's in BR livery, so W.R. then meant Western Region. You find it with other companies like L&SWR in the Southern age would leave the 'L&' and 'W' unpainted on existing signs.

I know what you mean. I'm contemplating a visit to the Chinnor & PR on Thursday, but their loco roster ended on Sunday and showed no steam rostered since 9th June and I don't really want to do a 50 something mile drive for a diesel.

It's not specific to the WSR. There is a whole world beyond West Somerset you know, and that's just on this forum! :)

It affects a lot more than just the WSR - and I'm pipped to the post! :p

A multitude of topics affect the WSR but if the subject is already being discussed elsewhere why clog up the WSR thread? <BJ>

Also pipped to the post! :p

Whilst the AGM may be the appropriate place for matters to be raised, that still doesn't mean that it will be ok to take the debate onto here. Presumably those who need to know will attend the AGM?

What about those who can't attend due to illness or distance? I thought this was a discussion forum after all? I don't remember any such restrictions about discussing any other railway's AGM...

I thought this was about the position of an employee of the WSR plc. In which case, however senior that employee, it is reasonable that the employer share such information about that employee's position as it is reasonable or legal to share through WSR plc channels - the EGM next week being an excellent such forum. I would hope that they have arrangements in place to communicate with those unable to be present for whatever reason, but I struggle to understand how an independent public forum is the right place for discussion about an individual's employment status. If there is any element of dispute in the situation, it should not be difficult to understand why neither side should wish that discussion to be public.

That is different from the X6+1 situation who weren't, as I recall, employees of the WSRA.

It does not alter my opinion that it is unsurprising that the new brooms sweeping through the WSR would challenge senior managers in the organisation over their role in how the railway came to be in the position it is in, and that this process would result in changes.

At the risk of clogging up the WSR thread, I think the first legislation was the Factories Act 1937. Prior to that it was generally tied up with insurance because the insurance companies required the boilers to be inspected. However, this was the Factories Act and did not apply to railways and, again, it would be simply a requirement of the insurers. I well remember HMRI's concern after the incidents at Didcot and Loughborough and the production of the first Guidance Note (PM18?) as a consequence. This required examination of loco boilers but it was still only guidance. I think the first lawful requirement applicable to railways was the Pressure Systems & Transportable Gas Containers Regulations 1989.
Happy to be told the above is wrong, though.

I think the +1 was Susan Kaufman and she was employed.

You are missing the point. This is not about the AGM but personnel matters about which there may be a 'due process' in train that we wouldn't want Nat Pres to cloud, one way or the other.
