Most heritage lines are a complete fudge of history. It is achieved as fewer people in the 21st, century have memories of pre Nationalisation (1948) or steam hauled train periods, although some attempt to portray it. Most heritage rail passengers only think of a 'steam engine' with 'old coaches', their knowledge of what ran where and when is probably quite small and to be truthful also irrelevant to them. The compromise mentioned by 35B and its perception by passengers is what makes or breaks the bank.

Maybe someone pointed out to him that the person charged with turning round a company with poor financial performance and engineering issues is the same person who was in charge of a company that suffered with poor financial performance and engineering issues (Crosville Motor Services)?

Needs to get his name out there in case there is an election methinks. Not a much loved MP I've heard, what with his comments about Taunton being like Aleppo. Is he a shareholder?

If an MP wants to know something about WSR, he should contact the company and ask! Going off to the BBC suggests something else, perhaps self promotion. If I were in charge, and he didn't ask, I wouldn't tell!

Meanwhile back on the subject of ops ,i saw on the webcams at 21.05 tonight there is no stock in either platform at Lydeard and a rake of coaches has just departed from the down platform at Blue Anchor in the up direction, all very strange. Perhaps Robin can enlighten us!

I visited the North Norfolk Railway on Wednesday with the family.

I will write it up on the North Norfolk thread, BUT Domestic Facilities was as impressed with the NNR as she wasnt with the WSR, the main message being cleanliness, and of course the state of the carriages which appear to have benefited from a full interior refit rather than being 'Ex BR'

POssibly issues that the WSR need to look at

Any idea where 9466 is at the steam rally site. Spent all day looking. Thought it was on the brake can rides.
