Whatever, I'm just hoping that this turns out as good as last year's Cornishman!

And I don't disagree with you Alan, it clearly is down to those at the business end of the society and there's nothing wrong with that. All I'm going to do is quote my previous post and continue my membership for the foreseeable.....

Yes I am having to make do with the two Rays driving non Southern engines over Sapperton. What a shame! Joking apart its a very poor year for us Bulleid fans after last years fabulous runs many of which I missed for various reasons. Just hope that next year is better.

Things are looking up Don. We now have 34046 'Braunton' on a Bristol to Kingswear charter on Sunday. <BJ>

Bumped for fire risk concerns...wish it was scheduled for a month later in a way - really hope that this doesn’t scupper the tour.

There has been plenty of rain despite the recent heat

UK Railtours have confirmed via their weekly Newsletter the outline timings for Clan Line's 10th August odyssey, the return portion of which is now available to view on RTT via http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U55493/2019/08/10/advanced

With an EXD departure at 15.50 pm, even with long-ish layovers at Bristol East Depot DGL and Salisbury (hopefully offering a photo opportunity?), the Waterloo return is now pitched at a much more sensible 21.48 pm, which works out much better for those of us based outside the Home Counties

Nothing remarkable jumping off the page at the moment (to this untutored eye), but awaiting timings for the outward leg (depart Waterloo 07.52 am) with great interest/ anticipation/ expectation. This is, after all, our one and only 2019 opportunity to savour a Merchant 28 main line experience at something considerably more affordable than the Belmond threshold.

Decided to flag this as I have too many London departures planned between now and December; line bashing opportunities on forthcoming tours are demanding my attention, and July/August is too much of a lottery where the weather is concerned. That said, hope it goes well and there's a good climb of Honiton.

Point taken. A pretty much worthless format for quoting a 24-hour clock time that is about as helpful as adding "A.D." would be to the date format of the thread title. Top marks for Editorial Scrutiny! And long may it persist on NatPres!;)

What a superb way to take a very gentle ribbing - why aren't more forum users like this? Good job I didn't mention the 2148 p.m! Cheers.

I’d love to be behind a merchant out of Waterloo but working. Will go out see it afterwards.

When she ran the southern sun set tour just after overhaul I believe, Only thing better than a merchant out of Waterloo, is two , Double headed Waterloo to Exeter and back via Westbury , Salisbury .Followed by 28 to Weymouth with 18 hauling the return

And 22 years ago I commissioned and still own the headboard - though it's pretty well on permanent loan to the MNLPS of course. _IMG6816 arty(4).jpg

Interesting that the 0420 ECS from EL is on RTT and also the LE path back to Wembley but still not the 0752 to Exeter. I wonder if there is a debate about FL or SL from Woking?
