35028 Clan Line to Exeter - now 10/08/19

Discussion in 'What's Going On' started by alastair, Jan 16, 2019.

ashtray any better? Cmon its just a big kettle, being a 4-6-2 as well given the weather might be wise to keep the Diesel on the back tomorrow.

For that we could have an extra two hours in bed but might miss the best bit of the day.

Not any better in my view. It's obviously not a big issue but it just seemed odd for someone bothering to join a preservation forum to use what is generally regarded as a derogatory term used by, say, teenagers collecting EMU numbers. It suggested a lack of respect for/interest in steam on the main line. I might be wrong.
Anyway, barring a tree actually blocking the line, the weather should pose no problem for 35028, given the regular haulage of significantly heavier trains round the Surrey hills unassisted in all weathers.

Despite the gales and heavy overnight rain there are no immediate rail problems on the route of the charter (update c/o National Rail enquiries 07:00).

The charter is now at Waterloo and the light engine move to Wembley has been activated. <BJ>

Currently all clear around Salisbury but sat here armed and ready to action should anyone require any timber!

See you all shortly and enjoy the run.

As did I, got switched to the slow just before Weybridge. OTT Maps showed the Up and Down Fasts as 'NOGO'. As she approached.

I ended up going to the opposite platform thinking she would pass at the same time as a Waterloo to Alton, which ended up being put behind.

Let it go over the top of your head Nick and enjoy your day. The kettle is on it's way and there's no box on the back. ;) :)

I started to watch your clip and thought you were going to be scuppered by the dreaded unit. Thankfully not. Very good. <BJ>

I was quite surprised by how far Clan Line had advanced during the "eclipse", its then you realise just how damn fast it was going.

My video of her through Byfleet, what got me was she had a green signal so I wonder why it coasted

My apologies the last minute intruder was me, I had run across from the other platform when I found out she was on the slow. I did look but thought you were too far away for me to be a problem.
