I have done Kilsby tunnel southbound behind No 9 but that was due to a failed Freightliner on the Northampton Loop, so not exactly planned.

Yes, there are a few I know who were on it. Slightly before my time on the rails.

£144 for the possibility, rather than a guarantee, of doing that stretch of line, which would be the main reason I'd do it, is a bit much, but then I am also looking for another 32 miles to take 60103 over 1,000 before leaving it well alone. It would mean changing the batting order for what I'd like to do between now and December, which currently involves a fair bit with 60009 and getting the Potteries done with 60163. Needs some thought.

First contact the RTC and get them to confirm in triplicate that the trip really does go from Milton Keynes to Rugby via Weedon. But be prepared for them to back-pedal on that one.

My email also said that this trip goes to York! Possibly the person asked to set everything up wasn't the master of their brief. (That said, I thought our PM didn't 'temp' for the RTC. :D)

60009 seen on the Dorset Coast Express, seen at Brentford slowing for a speed restriction (arrived on the train just ahead of 09 so couldn't go elsewhere)

An interesting record of a full day. Impressed you managed to do all that by train , obviously well planned in advance. Nice to see Southall still have that DCE headboard.

Couple of Brits and a class 5 but that was in 1964. One of the Brits did 90 at Weedon.

No 9 did not make 90 but I think they were asked by control to "hurry up"

Thanks very much. Glad it had the right headboard as on the first run a couple of weeks ago, it didn't!

A new tour by R.T.C. in place of the tin bath advertised on 3rd of november called the south yorkshireman if nobody yet has heared off R.T.C. the tin bath has been cancelled i was looking through the U.K. daytrip list for autumn and xmas 2019 and noticed it, the south Yorkshireman is to To commence at Blackburn 9:05am to Bolton at 9:57am via lower Darwen to Manchester Victoria 10:20am on to Denton presumably a water stop on straight through Sheffield Barnsley up via a unusual rare transversed route for steam ex L.Y.R. Barnsley Horbury route to wakefield kirkgate a quick break and onto the G.N.R. and south kirkby jct and on the swinton and knottingly joint D.V.R. line unusually steam heading south on this route and onto brightside then into Sheffield for 4:14pm dep 5:17pm and unusually westbound on the hope valley line back to manchester Victoria at 7:30pm and onto preston via chorley for 8:29pm A very interesting route indeed but anyone travelling on public transport may find it awkward getting to Blackburn that early from far away if they are not local without personal transport or hotel accomodation in blackburn the night before.

It's quite a nice variation that still has a fair bit of climbing. Also need to do Barnsley-Wakefield after missing 60163's trip in May. Just a shame there's limited options for getting to Blackburn for the climb up Sough without driving.

It will be quite a sulphurus run westbound under totley tunnel as well i bet, When i looked at the gradient profiles for the hope valley line it climbs uphill to Grindleford inside the tunnel westwards about 3 miles.

One thing is for certain. The charter definitely won't get up Sough without driving! (Sorry - just had to do that ;))
