Given the frequent discussions about the future of volunteering. This cropped up focusing on the Swanage Railway.

Also, quite nice to see an article about volunteers that doesn't make everyone out to be socially awkward etc, and also showing lines to be diverse in who volunteers. Albeit that both volunteers had a reason to volunteer - Au works in the industry and Attfield-Haines's partner works on the SR.

But also good the way it reflects on balancing volunteering with working as well.

Nathan is a superb engineman. Well done to them for getting some publicity for our growing shortage!

It’s a really good article and both Nathan and Beth come across really well as does Swanage. (Also IOWSR as well gets a shout out).

Safety training is important on steam trains.
Societies need to embrace new internet social media communications to keep young people updated.
