Any possibility of 73156 piloting with '257 Squadron'?

Memories of the Pines Express powering over the Mendips.

    Bring it on. <BJ>

Half the line up does depend on three engines returning from repairs though...

As said in post #4 I would think when they know what is available.
Current steam fleet is 257 and the tank, so assume the Standard 5 survives the GCR Gala that gives three locos currently serviceable plus possibly SKP may be in that state, unsure.

AFAIK T9 to Loughborough to fit springs to tender (as they have the technology) then have use for their gala. Back to Swanage for their gala

Good way of advertising the event......unfortunately Swanage has a reputation of posing timetables for special events very late on their website.....
Wish they could be more professional and learn from other railways who at least post their TT well in advance

I am sure we would all like them as soon as possible but I can not find either the GCR or WSR (which was there but now gone) for the previous weekend. So not that unusual I suggest.

Roster released for staff showing 6x locos. However locos not assigned to diagrams just yet, so a further wait for me to learn what I'm actually on. Just know I'm afternoon firing all 3x days!

    73156 obviously the guest.
    34072 / 80104 = both in service at 71B
30120 advertised to attend GCR gala beforehand
34053 expected to be in steam at Tyseley this coming weekend
    31806 in Herston still.

Tight schedule, but wouldn't put it past all the various teams to make it (no matter how close a call it gets).

Timetable and loco allocations now available at https://www.swanagerailway.co.uk/userfiles/media/autumn_gala_ptt_2019_v6_incl_locos_(25-09-19).pdf

In light of the planned double headers and freight workings, it has been requested that 34053, 73156 and 80104 face Swanage, and 30120, 31806 and 34072 face Wareham, time and road deliveries permitting.

As has been said, a lot of the delay in releasing the timetable has been due to the fact that so many of the locos are in various states of work; indeed as things stand, 34053 is still at Tyseley, 31806 is still in Herston works and replacement springs for 30120’s tender are due any day now. We are now confident in what we are announcing, however it would have been irresponsible not that long ago. There was no point in planning a timetable for 6 locos, while there was a chance we could have had 3. Hopefully with set pieces such as 73156 double heading with 80104 and 34053, and 30120 piloting 34072, the wait has been worth it!

I've seen a photo this morning of Sir Keith looking to be back together so she at least at first glance seems to be finished. However the most recent photo of the U Boat isn't encouraging, the back pair of driving wheels are still out...

Fear not; 31806 is planned to be arriving back on the railway early next week. There has been a lot of progress since the last photo I saw on Facebook!

Had a look at the timetable - not too many trips "over the road" this time. That's probably a good thing as the attaching/detaching of locos at Norden has been a factor in some of the delays experienced at recent galas. Since it doesn't go anywhere and is only interesting in that it uses a bit of track not in daily use, 4 trips a day seems reasonable.

Given the issues experienced with late running in recent years, we have deliberately taken a bit of a ‘step back’ with the timetable here to one that worked; this is essentially the 2016 Autumn Steam Gala timetable, with a few minor alterations. Hopefully this will prove to be significantly more robust, while still giving our visitors the ‘show’ that they come to these events for.

Intrigued how 73156/34053 can be on the back of the early morning Goods, and DH the 0945 off Swanage...
However a very robust timetable, with a good variety of services. Always say in my gala meets to ensure you show off what you can do, not what you can't. With the C set going over the road, could extra weight be added on the Wareham end? Carmine/Cream BG, PMV, Milk Tank, all vac fitted and thru piped for steam heat aren't they?

That was a typo that I spotted within about 30 seconds of it being published; a hangover from the previous timetable that we used as a precedent. A revised version has been sent over for uploading, however I’m sure you’ve worked out what is going on and what will be shown in the WTT!

Yep, I'll be enjoying a lie-in ahead of enjoying my 3x pm turns lol (though Friday the school run may get in the way of that...)
