I was going to ask where you found clouds - but then spotted there's a clue in the name!

'fraid by the time it was round me the sun had dropped over the hill

...and then with it being delayed leaving Shrewsbury the perfectly clear sky just got darker and darker.

Oh, and I discovered the silhouette of an A4 coasting is only marginally less dull and boring than that of the DMU preceding it! lol

The plan, as much as you can with loco movements, was to see the A4 somewhere around Church Stretton then use the layover to get to Shrewsbury for a silhouette by the Abbey.
55 minutes late off Hereford did for that and the clouds found me, so I settled for Bromfield.
Number 9 was just passing the Abbey when I got there - huh.

I'd got father with me, so needed somewhere that he could see the line from the car. Went to Stapleton first, by which point saw the update that it was an hour late and saw the line was already in shade. Couldn't off the top of my head think of anywhere further south with suitable parking that was on the lit side of the line, so retreated to Condover road bridge, ...and saw the sun set over Lyth Hill whilst waiting there as well! Lol.

It had made back time and was only 30 minutes late as it came past, but I still had time to get north of town to see it by Leaton even if it left town on time. ...however the cloudless sky and the sun just dipping over the horizon on arrival there didn't bode well either. By the time it left late it was getting really rather dark to say the least! Lol.

You really got it right with the sun catching off the clouds earlier on in the evening though - stunning photo! :)

Round 2 -- Sun chasing in Shropshire.

From a second day of training runs with 45231, this time in the usual direction -- the cloud was far more extensive than forecast. DSC_5380 45231 Chirk Viaduct 180919.JPG DSC_5388 45231 Albrighton 180919.JPG
