It is facing "Country" i.e. smokebox first out of Medstead towards Alresford, as is 30925. 506 and 92212 face the other way

Back after a good day at the gala, trains ran to time and some very nice performances. 92212 looks brilliant with the white touch ups on the front. Would anyone know why the freight was quite short, only 3 dogfish wagons.

Pictures of the steam locos working today at Medstead, taken between the downpours which included flashes of lightning and hailstones at one point in the afternoon!

Nice shots. It looks a bit quiet for a Gala though. We will hopefully be attending on Sunday. Is the car park field at Ropley holding up against the endless rain? We abandoned our plans for attending today when we checked the forecast yesterday evening. Hopefully the visitor numbers will be OK for this event.

It was pretty well attended, though no doubt not as busy as other Autumn Galas I have been to there with visiting locomotives. Can't answer about the field as I parked at Alresford.

Here's my footage from Fridays take on the Gala. Was a bit busy around Ropley but not overly.

Field is fine, surprisingly mud- free. Busy today, probably as weather better

That is good to hear. Will hopefully be attending tomorrow. I hope that there are still some 34058 hats left!

I’ve received a text saying black or green hats still available to buy at Ropley.

A few from today's workings. 76017 decided to throw its toys out of the pram early afternoon leading to about 35 minute delays but with some quick shunting and the knocking out of the freight, time was soon made up. To cap it off, the weather played its part with mainly blue skies.

Most services seemed to be pretty well loaded without being overcrowded. An excellent day.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

The lure of probably a last chance (ever?) to ride behind the 9F proved too much of a lure yesterday. I assume it will be someway down the JH restoration queue (unless it is a favourite) so at the age of 68 it may be a final farewell with the loco.
I thought it was a very well run event, trains kept to time, maybe a lot of climbing footbridges at each end or the middle (my legs are still telling me about it), good value at £22. My only gripe would be that I only stumbled on brake van rides by chance but did get one behind Cheltenham. We seemed to pass through Ropley at a fair speed so I can only assume the signalman has a very strong (or bruised shoulder) with that token exchange.
Not really a photographic day as the aim was to ride, but a few around stations and lineside freights. IMG_3429.JPG IMG_3451.JPG IMG_3509.JPG IMG_3468.JPG .
