    Glinting through Glenfinnan ...

After being patient all week waiting for a run with some sunlight, we were finally rewarded on the last day of the season on Friday 25th October. Stanier Black five 45407 glints under the direct sun as she climbs hard away from Glenfinnan alongside the River Fae, a newly snow capped Ben Nevis surrounded by clouds in the distance.

Some of mine from the last week of this season's Jacobite. The West Highland weather was the usual mix but with the added bonus of a dusting of snow on the hills at the end of the week.
Locations are - Corpach, Borrowdale, Fort William Junction, leaving Arisaig, Glenfinnan Viaduct, climbing to Glenfinnan Station, Lochailort and Morar.

Typically, as mentioned earlier, I was unable to be up in the Highlands on the Friday. That meant a beautiful forecast, of which the irony has not been lost on me!

However, as the clocks have gone back, so have the Black 5's towards Carnforth. With snow on the hills and sunshine making an appearance, a trip to Crianlarich was suitable compensation....

If I had stayed that's the location I would have done, it disguises the fact that there are only three coaches. Should have had the extra night away!

Some fantastic shots taken across this week including of the ecs heading south today. Does anyone know who the footplate crews were for the ecs south?

A few shots from a week with the Jacobite. It was good to meet a fair few Nat Pres members while up in the Highlands!

Thankfully the Thursday and Friday produced two days of sunny spells and, miraculously, I managed to find a handful of locations where the sun was actually shining!
