Saw her from the trackside, piloted by Foremarke Hall:

I missed the balancing working, where the tank was leading, as I was working, but here's another as the train pulled out of Gotherington loop:

NB My colleague was not asleep, no, he was examining a dipped joint (or so he assured me...)

Does anyone know how long 9466 is staying on the GWSR?

I'd heard at least to end of next season (I think from one of the railways blogs) and then from a different source, till end of her boiler certificate, (circa 7 yrs)

Either way great to see her on the railway. Looks much more impressive in real life than in a photo. Must of been one of the biggest panniers the GWR built?

She'll certainly bark a bit with 8 coaches behind her.

Signed up long term, first solo outing this weekend along with 4270 on the second train. As an ex Gloucester and Worcester loco it’s back on old stomping ground!

I have a question to ask... With 9466 at the GWSR for the foreseeable, I've been wondering about how this will affect the Festival of Steam next year in terms of visiting locos. I'm pretty sure the two main options are to just have the 9400 plus two additional visitors, or to bring in the normal amount of three visitors in addition to 9466. Any idea on which is likely to happen, perchance?
    Many thanks,
    Adam T.

Nothing decided currently, wether it’s 2 or three, it’s more about how much they cost to hire and where there being transported from.

Here's a video of mine showing 9466 barking out of Winchcombe with a service to Cheltenham Racecourse this afternoon.

This weekend has seen 9466 running its first GWSR services. The picture below from Luke Hudman (yesterday’s fireman) shows the first 94 to call at broadway station for 59 years! 9466 as a Worcester engine would have done this many times before. Other photo shows the engine being disposed after its first days operation.

I reckon I can beat you there Andy :)

    9453 Broadway 14-7-62.jpg

This is 9453 about to drop down into the coal yard on 14th July 1962 (57 years ago....) two years after closure to passengers, when the yard was still served.

Note the leaning running in board posts. The new ones we planted a few years back are on the same journey!

Picture and copyright by Brian Parsons, to whom my grateful thanks.

BTW I don't have any other 94xx pictures for the Broadway collection, so if anyone can help?

Is 9466 still registered for mainline use?

My footage of The Pannier Tank no. 9466 in action on yesterday's Steam and Scream event. It was a wonderful to see a Pannier Tank trundling along through some beautiful countryside in gorgeous autumn weather unlike the previous day. Hope you enjoy.

As a youngster, I remember vividly going to Broadway goods yard around 1961 or 1962 to witness the collection of some chicks for a neighbour's farm. They arrived in "livestock" labelled ventilated boxes and were unloaded from a box van. I recollect that the locomotive was a black pannier tank but cannot remember if it was a 94xx. Oh, to have had a camera!

Hi all, having noticed there is no Christmas Cracker listed on the events calendar this year I was wondering if there will be anything happening over the normal Cracker period in late December especially with 9466 now on the line?

Was hoping to make the Cracker again this year but still up for coming down for the day should the Pannier be out :)

I’m not sure that there is a cracker this year. We don’t currently have a steam heat 37 and looking at the timetables it looks like greens and purples after Christmas which is a two steam and either the dmu or a diesel. 9466 is out on at least 13 dates in December with supporting cast spread between 7820,2807,4270 and 35006.

I heard the 37 boiler wasn't quite as buggered as previously thought, and might be fixed in time for Christmas. I do hope so, otherwise it's going to be a very chilly train unless they swap out to the DMU.

Previously thought by who? A leak was observed, the steam generator removed for inspection, and problem identified. It has been away for assessment and an insurance approved repair, and will hopefully be back in the loco before Christmas.
