The video to accompany Corben’s photos above. Had a great week away, first time in the West Highlands. Unbeatable scenery, definitely one to do again!

Magnificent sound! The engineering quality is audible in that Black 5.

Great stuff David. In my opinion the West Highland line and extension are just unbeatable for scenery and locations in Britain.

Agree there Henry, it’s why we keep going back! The Kyle and Oban Lines are as good but a lot less steam.

I suspect they'll be top-and-tail on the Oban branch. That's been the way they've run things in recent years. IIRC, there are a couple of bridges that won't take 2 locos on them at the same time. Nevertheless - lovely line and well worth the trip

When the tour got stuck at Oban because it was overloaded there were two problems. The extra locomotive available - the K4 - was not a Class that had been on the line and there were gauging concerns. It also had to go at the rear to spread the weight on the bridges as mentioned earlier.

Many thanks Henry. A fantastic part of the world, especially outside of the summer months.
