Steam Dreams 2019 - New Summer and other tours

My video of 6233 around Sherborne. First departing Sherborne for Yeovil and then at Sherborne Station on the return..

 

Running the loco and support coach over the crossing is done to get as much of the train alongside the platform as possible so that passengers can get aboard with the minimum amount of delay to the train (and road users). The barriers would have to be down anyway as the crossing is immediately after the platform.

 

Tomorrows White Cliffs trip sounds interesting according to SD Instagram. 33207,33025 and 47802 quoted as featuring on this unique trip.

 

Plus of course most steam tours are on the down slow having taken water at Winchfield. Although the Duchess may fall foul on that line as well, guess we will find out on a DCE this summer.

 

The crossing was blocked longer than normal as the barriers go down quite a bit in advance of the train stopping and getting so many people on safely. When the "normal" service is running the up and down trains cross at Sherborne most times and up to 5 minutes wait isnt uncommon.Us locals tend to avoid the crossing around the half hour as thats when it usually happens.

 

Surely no one would complain when they have one of Sir Williams finest to look at while they wait!

 

Good thinking - let's make up for the disappointment of no steam by adding as many diesels as possible! What's the formation - one at each end and one in the middle?

 

Nah - they'd rather look at one of Mr Bulleid's finest down in deepest Dorset!

Today's train appears to be doomed. First of all the steam loco was replaced by a diesel (or three) and now it's the weather causing floods and fallen trees . <BJ>

Thank you Private Fraser! Actually it seems to be running to plan so far. Hope the punters are enjoying their motley collection of WCRC diesels!

 

I have to agree. The sight and sound, not to mention the smell of the Crompton diesels must be a joy to all aboard. <BJ>

 

Just caught sight of it running early in the distance from my place crossing Hacklinge marshes, looked a bit of a mixed grill topped and tailed with boxes

 

I suspect the 33's have probably led to a few pay on the day diesel fans though.
