I’ve taken the plunge and placed my booking about a month ago, this time for the whole shebang. Kelly and co. have come up with another winner, BIL in the Highlands and Guardsman over the Marches in particular have rather whetted the appetite!

Although this sounds like a lot; but wouldn't it make sense to have 6201 and 45690 down the coast together as they go to the same place. And it would be nice to see a Princess Royal down the coast.

It would be way out of gauge !

I think there's probably a good chance 6201 won't fit round the coast, but it would be great news if she could.

Is Lizzie bigger than Britannia do you think Ian ?

I'd guess at a Brit to be more gauge friendly than a Lizzie.

6201 has been along the coast at least once before... way back in 1991, as has 46203 in the same year. It was nearly 30 years ago though.

Workington 1991. Hauled train to there from Carnforth, then light engine to Upperby.

WOW! 35018 on the highland mainline! Presume that gauge issues has played a part in this change but great to see a Southern engine on the HML. Will 35018 take over from 6233 on the Aberdeen tour on May 2nd?

Can anyone remember any other Bullieds going over the Highland main line since Yeovil showed off during the 1948 Exchanges?

No. Tangmere was listed to go twice but neither ever happened.

If she treats Druim Uachdar in the same fashion as 34004 did in 1948, people will be in for a treat.

Thanks Sam, that was my recollection. As others have said, we should be for a treat! If it's forced to have a diesel pushing at the rear, will 35018 (which was itself a "Great Exchanges" loco) wind that like 34004 did its banker in 1948?!!!

Can't you add the correct spelling to the dictionary?

Yes, but only if I remember to do that and at my advanced age I'm probably suffering from some sort of memory loss - or, if you ask my wife, I'm definitely suffering such.
I'll do it now - Bulleid - there, done it.

Anyone care to place a bet on whether the GB will be cancelled given the fact Vintage Trains have now cancelled their April excursions ?

    I'm a bit puzzled here.

Are they suggesting that trains are too dangerous to travel on in the current situation and that all railway travel should be banned (along, presumably with bus travel too), or does this danger just apply to those trains with a kettle at the front?

We'd all be dead of starvation and poverty at that rate. Coronavirus would be the least of our worries.
