Tickets arrived today for this tour im boarding at Huntingdon in coach F no stop at finsbury park outward but stops there on the way back, but still no sign of 60009 moving from 10A to york as of yet, where are the water stops on this tour as it will be my 1st steam hauled run up and down the E.C.M.L. south of Doncaster.

A quick look at RTT and the water stops should be easy to work out.

Weather not looking good for this so photography/video/sound recording will be a challenge.

In fairness it has me confused on the return. I was not aware you could take water in the platform at Peterborough, although that is what the timing sort of implies as there is not the usual Connington Loop stop. A look at Google street view shows about a 7 ft fence between the car park and the platform and no apparent gates.

I think they just put the hoses over the fence... Both return runs from York to London (30/11 and 14/12) at Christmas watered in P1.

Or for standing on a platform without a canopy while the passengers board if the forecast is accurate. Think I might have to take some wet weather gear.

I doubt they'll have any problems with window hangers if the storm arrives as predicted. :)

I'll be popping over to Huntingdon in the evening as it might be the last time I see her in steam.

Another York train with a diesel on the rear. Is that a permanent feature now?

Only in notch 1 i guess shireman 6233 seems to be doing most of the slogging N.R and there rules about having a backup diesel unless its just on 4 the steam heat i keep getting told:(

I suppose the weather forecast made it a straightforward decision, regardless of the lack of stiff gradients. Saphos have got their 47 out today, but the route and conditions probably dictate it's use. Hopefully pure steam next Saturday with no9 !

Getting risky booking anything. Was going to book the WR today but no paths appeared to release the diesel that towed the stock out of Southall so didn't bother. Hope next week is diesel free otherwise it will be a short day out to Slough and straight back home!!

Operational issues at York? I see that the diesel + stock goes to Holgate from P10, but 6233 heads the other way, initially to the NRM for servicing.

Yes that's what usually happens. However last time I did a steam trip to York, WCRC conjured up a diesel at York to do the shunting and we didn't have to take one with us!
