Hidden away in the depths of Peak Rail website I've found this.
    https://www.peakrail.co.uk/our-railway/enthusiasts/waterman-heritage-trust/

And on PW own Model Railway Facebook page "Railnuts", a photo appeared last night of 5553 being wheeled. Typical of social media one of the very first comments started off a livery debate, however the picture stated that whilst the frames have been re-wheeled, the boiler is presently awaiting a steam test. Looking like a small prairie could be returning to action in 2020!

The page admin has stated once 5553 is back in action then attention will turn to 5224 (followed by the 08). Promising things happening at Rowsley!

Dom confirmed elsewhere that 5224 has been stripped down ahead of this.

Guess Pete Waterman made most of his money in the pop music and TV.
It could as he has not recently had any new hits he had to get help from the Government Apprentices scheme until it was closed due to austerity.
Good he managed to raise sime cash from selling models to restart restoration and his presence at Peak Rail will be positive for the site.
The narrow gauge Garrett is also there but seems in no rush for restoration.

    Academic Etiquette.

A person should not use the title Doctor on a day to day basis - if the awarded title was conferred upon its recipient on an honorary basis and not as the result of in depth academic research.

Normally people with honorary doctorates only use their awarded academic title when undertaking duties and activities connected with the awarding university itself.

Thus Mr. Waterman's current use of the title Doctor of Laws is somewhat comical in view of Peak Rail and Mr. Waterman successfully losing legal skirmishes with Grinsty Rail and the Briddons.

What's that got to do with the price of fish? There's enough threads already knocking the efforts of <Peak Rail> and A.N.other preservation group/individual - can we not keep the mud there? This thread was started to celebrate the returning to steam of another steam locomotive (which happens to be the last ever loco to leave Barry IIRC). Surely there no need for further negativity?

"GWR 5600 Class 0-6-2T No. 6634, built in 1928. Moved in 2017 from the Severn Valley Railway following its restoration from scrapyard condition never commencing, is due to be restored to working order"

Is this factually correct? I understood that the SVR had done quite a lot of work on the chassis before the plug was pulled.

Yes they had, and it was reported at the 2018 SVR(H) AGM that the 2017 accounts included a £65k settlement from the Waterman Trust.

:) I think I might award myself SL (successful loser) letters after my name from now on. I hope no one considers this such a terrible breach of etiquette.

The top half of that page is taken from the SVR's Wiki page which has a little more detail and links to 6634 https://www.svrwiki.com/The_Waterman_Railway_Heritage_Trust. I should know, I researched and wrote some of it!

Is anything going to happen with 49395? I seem to recall that years ago this was described as PW’s favourite loco.

There was a thread for that https://www.national-preservation.com/threads/49395-super-d-will-it-run-again.1139318/ but, yes, it all seems to have gone quiet.

We were told just over a week ago the paperwork was never sorted out, so it still belongs to him when we had a group visit to Didcot.

It is too high to go under the OHW and most likely to wide for the loading gauge as well.

Blue Murder (6023) is also too high as well to leave with the correct height cab chimney and safety valve in place.

It was the same with 6000 when it left the NRM at York for display in Swindon in 2015. This is what it looked like:- mini_IMG_2613-1_edited.JPG
