Britannia just seen leaving Crewe for York, can't say if there's a diesel on the back as my connection dropped before the back on the train came into view.
    Edit so it was there.

This seems to confirm that York may now be a 'buyer beware' destination as far as attached diesels are concerned.

Saw that. Excellent for those on board. I presume the DL has gone up separately to do the shunting and the return. Well done to West Coast for making that possible.

No. 70000 Britannia blasts through Acton Bridge some 10 minutes down on schedule owing to a late running local service.

Britannia passed Buxworth station about 2 minutes down, I would estimate about 30 mph and the Brush type 4 was not doing any shovage, as far as I could tell.

Good sound up to Cowburn tunnel, unfortunately the diesel was assisting but not too much overkill !

    Any assistance is overkill.

Immaculately turned out locomotive and train, very impressed!

Just arrived back n Crewe 14 down, everything coming south has been running late, I think the restrictions at Dutton Viaduct are still in place.

The ECS left York just after I arrived on The Yorkshireman behind UoSA. I was bemused to see the diesel at the north end of the stock, propelling it south out of the station. If the diesel had arrived at the back of the train, why didn't it stay there to pull the ECS?

Presumably so that it didn't need to run round in Holgate and could pull the train back into the station for the return?

Wouldn't it be easier to run round in Holgate than in the station?

I suspect that there was not a runround road available in Holgate. By the same token "Brittania" accessed the turntable from the NRM via Skelton Junction rather than through the station and Holgate as is normal practice.
