Mileage wise a stunning tour - hope anyone who is on-board has a thoroughly enjoyable day and look forward to possibly some updates/reports and some stunning images and videos from those that contribute to this fantastic forum.

Gutting for all concerned - Cancelled and given the information provided by the government yesterday not a surprise - no last hurrah for Number 9

 

A nice as a last hurrah would have been, number 9 is just a lump of metal. People's lives are more important.

 

This is just a suggestion.As no tours are running for a while how about on the date of the tour Photters and video men put on pics from previous years trips
This Saturday will be The Edinburgh Flyer, 28th WCME and Wensleydale and so on each week until the action starts again.

 

or what would be more interesting, submit pictures / videos of the traction involved but from days in service

 

A lot of the photography done now is with it being digital. That makes it a lot easier to upload photos to view. As much as your idea is nice, it cuts out a lot who haven't got them scanned in or others that weren't around. That would include me, short of using a Blue Telephone Box.

 

Why complicate things just put pics of previous runs of the Edinburgh Flyer this Saturday .Its not rocket science!

Some of us are too young to remember the days of steam in service and i had hoped that my idea would have been welcomed as a celebration of those days. Some of you elder forum members must have pictures from years ago that many of us would find of immense interest. this gives us (the younger lot) an opportunity to appreciate the resources of the more mature lot (the rest) in an innovative context. (and yes yopur videos of similar trips in recent years would also be most welcome). maybe this warrants its own thread .... maybe not as that would miss the point

 

Isn't the answer to that "Nothing"?

 

Time to dust off those VCRs and reacquaint ourselves with some old favourites, such as 'Smoke and Steam on the Settle & Carlisle'...
