Looks positively cosy - you should try the Dukedog going backwards if you want to know the meaning of cold ...

564 has a storm sheet which gives a little more protection. 8572 has a low tender and great big side windows and massive gaps between the tender and loco. Even in the summer you can find yourself in shirtsleeves going forwards and having to don a serge going backwards.

I imagine they’re somewhat similar, if the level of the cab floor strands you above the height of the tender and the back of the cab roof acting as a scoop to drag everything into the space where you’re standing.

Everyone things engine cabs must be warm because there’s a fire there, but the point is to keep the heat in the firebox. 8572 can’t even keep its own warming plate hot!

All GW locos are cold going backwards. They have no doors to keep the draught out.

With recent events and the railway being out of action, I take it there is enough space in Weybourne sheds for all the steam locomotives to be stored under cover?

I think there are four currently in the shed. You wouldn't get them all in, unless you threw out all of the restoration projects, which would be unwise and many of them are not watertight!

Great Western tender loco (a broad gauge one) ...... Check
    Dome ...... Check
    Cab doors ...... Check

You failed to specify any particular door orientation.

    Wot? :D

It would be good if they could move an old shed from someone’s farm as a temporary shelter even if it’s over the main tracks

The M&GNJR Society have acquired the NNR’s class 101 DMU. More funds for the NNR and an important piece of East Anglian railway heritage for the Society.

Wonder if the Society plans to buy Black Prince next... (I jest of course)
