Please be aware that we are complying fully with CTL Seal's Covid-19 procedures and are working mainly in the container area which is remote from the main working area.

That is great to hear (for all the obvious reasons). When it's all done, they'll be able to look at it with great pride.

Noel - I hope you will as well! Thanks for all of your comments

I've just updated the bogie appeal page with an exploded diagram showing the components we need for the next phase. Follow the link below and click the Phase 2 tab

    https://www.theclanproject.org/appeals/bogie/Clan_BogieMain.php

Make sure you click the image to see the full size version

Obviously we will have to curtail our visits to site for the forseeable future but there's lots of design work to do - one of which is to unravel the pipework arrangement drawing

PS Latest Update from today - casting of 1 cannon box sponsored. Purchase of 1 roller bearing set sponsored

Another big update today with a job lot of castings arriving from South Lincs Foundry.

Keith is cracking on with the drawings for the hind beam gussets - we should be placing an order for these soon.

I Think this is good and when they have finished it they could build a Britannia for them to use on the great Central railway as it would be a similar engine

Why would they do that when 70013 is already based there????

I think they anticipate joining up in 2023ish? Building a new Britannia would take longer than that, and cost at least £2 million, which would be impossible to raise given we've already got 2 in existence so no one would donate.

Sorry but that makes no sense. At the current rates of progress the GCR will be joined up before 72010 is completed and therefore 70013 could operate over the whole line. As it stands the GCRN seems to work ok with industrials.

Amazing all the work that has been achieved, and still going under current circumstances.

I don't think "they" (whoever "they" are) should build another one. It rather ignores the ten years of work to date.

There's still a way to go though. Are you able to say what the boiler position is yet?

    Yes they
Yes the idea would mean they d have to start it early. I don’t think many people like the industrial what I have heard so mic but they are good for now so I wouldn’t recommend getting rid of them

Even assuming they'd be able to get the money (they wouldn't) and that "they" actually wanted to build it (I doubt they would) they'd still have had to have started at least 5 years ago to even have a how of finishing our before the two halves of the GCR join. Can we leave this discussion there - it's pointless, won't happen, and is daft.

    Nice one Clan Team

A second Clan Boiler (Sawn-off) on whats left of 92245 could be a really useful (2-8-2) engine (yep. im bored.)

The original intention of the Standard Steam Loco Co was to build a range of BR standards. However, our aim is now focussed on building 72010 - there's enough to think about without being distracted with other engines!

Bikermike - the boiler position. We want to follow the A1 Trust's path in that stage 1 is to design an all steel, welded boiler as contract 1 - this will need a specialist boiler designer. Once we have a specification and design, we will then go out to tender for the manufacture of the boiler. Geoff is well on with an outline specification and I went to the NRM recently to photo some of the original boiler drawings. Some of our reproductions and not the best quality. Our main focus at the moment is to get a frame complete with wheels - at least the bogie and trailing truck.

If they had to build another engine though which one do you think they will choose it would be good to know

Proposed (but not by the Clan mob) 3MT 77021 seems to have quietly gone belly up.

    Jus' sayin' ..... ;)
