In the normally genteel world of Railway preservation where the virtues of a bygone age are largely admired to have the decision makers so closely mirroring the behaviours of our politicians is quite a shock . Less Brunel, Gresley, Collett and Stanier and more Cummings, Johnson and Trump

But if the plc goes into administration, it takes the operating licence with it. The administrator may not necessarily want to continue running the Railway. While I consider the behaviour of the plc leaves a great deal to be desired, we need to be careful of what we wish for!

For those who don’t have HOPS access, said release attached.

    I love this bit...

"In our view, this is almost a technical accounting issue"

So if it's almost that, what is it actually?

When something is controversial, and there is an involved party who are suspected of poor behaviour, I notice that words like "just, "almost" or "technical" are excellent hints that there is something very questionable about what that party has been up to. In the same way "clear" or "transparent" are very good hints that matters are nothing of the sort.

Rather like those who start a statement with "In all honesty..."

It appears that an update of this statement has been made on hops removing this sentence. Current version attached.

How many more updates do we think will follow....!

A recent release said what a good financial position seemed to be in after the profit of last year. Now it appears that is not so - Covid is to blame of course not the management, past and present of the PLC of course. There are far more deserving lines, I believe, that need financial help.
The WSR may survive but I get the impression it will not be the same WSR that most supporters have been accustomed to.

It amazes me that after they have shot themselves in the foot so many times, there are still more feet left.

...but the 'author' in that context is not necessarily the person on whose behalf it was written, or who was supposed to be signing it.

Curiouser and curiouser! Like you say, the parallels between the current government and a little corner of West Somerset become clearer and more distressing by the day. :(

So why are they being comprehensively ignored (with the possible exception of the WSSRT)?

I suspect all this shows is that it was written on a computer previously used by the former General Manager, and no one has bothered to alter the Windows data on that computer since he left. It doesn't show who was actually pressing the keys at the time.

Whoever is pressing the keys should probably have their admin rights removed, pronto. If this is all the work, as is suspected, of our Dear Leader, I wonder what on earth the other Directors must make of it all. Maybe they don't even know half of what goes on in their name. How much longer can this on go for?

Very good point. Many of us know exactly who now uses the ex-GM's office and computer as his own. Something I have seen with my own eyes, it won't take people to have too many guesses.

Well now there's a very telling statement.

"It will no doubt take into consideration the views of the volunteers and affiliated groups..."

Apart from almost totally relying upon them to operate its business. And relying upon them to raise money to run its business.

What a truly myopic point of view. What world do you live in?
