MID NORFOLK RAILWAY - Following today's government announcement on the continued relaxation of the lock-down restrictions, the Mid-Norfolk Railway will remain closed for the time being, and until at least the start of August.

During this time we will gradually be welcoming back the majority of MNR volunteers who have been affected by lockdown and not at the railway, and this time will allow us to put in place processes to keep all our visitors and volunteers safe and continue to review government guidance.

To meet Social distancing requirements, the railway is in the process of refurbishing its corridor rolling stock and details of this will be shared closer to reopening. In the meantime, stay safe and we look forward to welcoming you on board soon.

Welcome news from the south west. <BJ>

Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway reopening!!
    https://www.dartmouthrailriver.co.uk/reopening-plans

Hurray!! At long last we have some very good news for you all.....

We are planning to reopen on Monday 6th July. At this moment in time nothing is set in stone until we get closer to the 6th but we will keep you up to date asap. You can check regularly for updates of course.
We will not restart with all of our services but have introduced a streamlined service for the time being. Simply use the links on the home page to explore your trip with us - we are so looking forward to welcoming you!!
We have been working extremely hard to ensure that we meet all government guidelines and rest assured, we will not put the health and wellbeing of our customers and staff at risk.
Here are some of the things we have implemented so far (and see photos below):
We have put screens up between the seating sections in the trains and are now working on our vessels (all will be complete before we open of course).
    • There will be reduced capacity upon our restart and we will revisit operating procedures when government guidlelines are issued.
    • We have implemented allocated seating on both the steam train and the Dartmouth River Cruise vessel(s).
    • The shop front has been reduced to allow a one-way system.
    • The Head of Steam Cafe at Queen's Park Station has been screened to keep both our customers and staff safe.
    • The steam train carraiges will be more frequently deep cleaned regularly - including the use of a sanitiser fog machine.
Stay tuned for regular updates and more information
    - and we hope to welcome you all aboard again soon.....

Isle of Wight Steam Railway has published a video on YouTube showing work which has been in hand in preparation for re-opening. There will be more details in the next few days.

The Hovercraft wants all travel to be pre-booked. A.F.A.I.K. the catamaran is still not running and it can be "difficult" to get on the Fishbourne car ferry. I suspect there may be developments in the next few days. It is worth having a look on YouTube at the recent IOWSR posting to see the preparatory work that has been going on.

On Brighton East Beach web cam you could scroll back and forth and Volks Railway was working in and out today. Not sure if the people on it were passenger or staff. Not as many folk on beach as weather might suggest, a brisk east breeze. I see we had 5GW wind power at teatime to keep the lights on.
