Times now out (except for Exeter to Bristol at time of posting). Too many movements to post all individually so I’m going to throw the LS Bristol movements here:

    https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/se...9/0000-2359?stp=WVS&show=all&order=wtt&toc=LS

Moves suggesting it could go without a diesel? Or am I interpreting the movements with a top and tailed diesel leg with just the lead loco detraining..?

Edit - some interesting reversals at Bristol on the return suggest a diesel will be on the rear.

Would it be churlish for me to note that Carmarthen is not on the Pembrokeshire Coast, in fact its not even in the same historic county?

Yes! You are going towards the Pembroke Coast so that's good enough. Think about the various Atlantic Coast Express steam charters under different operator 'banners' that haven't gone anywhere near the Atlantic coast.

  5. Train manager has just told us 70000 is running as classmate 70022 Tornado today. A BR(W) engine presumably.

70022 Tornado adorned with the Red Dragon headboard on time departing from Bristol ....boy did that look good and with a deafening bark.

6 blood and custards and 5 chocolate and creams coaches behind the Brit today plus BR green D1935. <BJ>

70000 Britannia in disguise as 70022 Tornado (!!!) approaching Cardiff this morning with D1935 as a quiet tailgunner.

  14. Plan is to turn the whole train at Carmarthen, so the engine will stay coupled to the Mk1s all day.

    GPS clocked 77.

  15. 60164 Britannia?

Yes certainly a Western Region locomotive in the early years of her life.
70022 TORNADO was from new first allocated to Laira in August 1951 before moving to Newton Abbot in April 1952. Then on to Cardiff Canton in December 1956 where she was based for five years until September 1961.
Her last five years of service were spent further north before her withdrawal on the last day of December 1966.
Take care and enjoy your day.

  17. NR's failure to cut back effectively in the Carmarthen area has sadly resulted in some serious scoring along both sides of the stock. Price to be paid for straying from mainstream routes I guess, but most unfortunate nonetheless.

The problem for NR is that they will get a bill as the location of the problem will be obvious.

I do wonder if stock owners can claim off NR for this, same happened when SRPS hired their stock for a Heart of Wales trip a couple of years ago, scratched several immaculate Mk 1's.
