On my first visit to the Mid-Hants it was just Alresford to Ropley, happy days. :)

Was that when Michael Aspel? and a tv crew featured the line? All I remember of that was how frequently Aspel kept mentioning Alresford.
Thinking of Aspel reminded me of Eric Sykes, who heard someone ask where Mike Aspel was. Eric asked what a kaspel was! :D

Wasn't that Ultra Quiz? Remember Bodmin had a headboard for the occasion which I seem to remember sitting in the works at Ropley for several years.

Some sad news about Rosie Jacob posted on the S&D Trust website. Rosie was a Fireman on the MHR and also worked on the dining trains. Rosie was also involved with the S&D Trust.

Very sorry to hear about Rosie. She also attended the Alton area group meets - a very nice lady.

I never met her that I was aware but I have sailed regularly on Shieldhall so our paths may have crossed

Cheltenham was out in a test run this afternoon but I believe it's Thomas and the Ivatt on services this weekend (providing they don't set fire to Hampshire!)

Very interesting to see this, and the extent of repairs that have been carried out in 499.

It inspired be to look on the ULS website too, where I found that 499 was originally bought as a source of spares for 506. I never realised that.

Just returned home from a very enjoyable day out. Very well run by the the team and it was a joy to be in a compartment behind the Ivatt as it thundered it's way up the Alps.

Whatever you want to call it, it was a majestic sound.

Also very entertaining watching Thomas rush through Ropley non-stop.

So here’s my take on 53808 back in 2009. Looking forward to photographing 53808 soon.

A productive day atop the hill yesterday, with a fair turn out.

The two plank cosmetic repaint is coming on at a steady pace.

The priming & undercoating of the Maroon CCT is complete, and topcoat is now going on.

On the Gunpowder Van, the replacement sections of steel are now in red oxide - though there is still some of the south side roof left to replace.

Work has also started with a repaint of the Fergie tractor.

Elsewhere, two of us disappeared up to the Meon armed with fresh oil for the dash pots on the Dogfish - something we forgot last time! We also started to give the Sealions the once over......

And before you knew it, it was getting on for 18:00 - so time to head home & crack open a few well deserved cold ones!! :)

A couple of shots of well loaded trains.
