Repton, coaches and 825 arrived in grosmont about 13.00.
825 came off and appeared to head for mpd, with Repton continuing to Whitby.
Sybilla Departed with stock for Pickering.
Or that is what I saw via the webcam.

Considering that there has also been some at least "ghost/refresher" running to Whitby as well. In theory at least there's the option of extending the Grosmont - Goathland/MP18 run in and out of Whitby, giving a 24 mile round trip...........

Are trains only running from pickering to levisham and grosmont to goathland at the moment due to the bridge repairs been unfinished at goathland?

Bridge 27 has been completed with the S & T department finishing off their side of things and hand signalling trains over the Up line during the "Ghost/refresher" running. The Grosmont - Goathland side of ops is running through to milepost 18 top & tailed, as there's no run round facilities at MP18. Otherwise trains are running as advertised as a pair of shuttles from each end of the line. The last train of the day is I believe an all line non-stop run end to end

Trains were running the full length of the line last week (And indeed would have to to get Loco's and Stock to Pickering), for the first few days
trains were running wrong road through Goathland in the southern direction whilst some final S&T/P-Way works were taking place but both lines
appear to be in use now. The reason when the timetable was drawn up was based on the Covid Restrictions then in place and how it was best felt to
accommodate them. This is being regularly reviewed with a hope to increasing service as and when it can be managed safely.

To be more accurate trains will be running Pickering to Levisham return, and Grosmont to Milepost 18 and return. This is the same as
the Grosmont Santa Services that run Top and Tailed into section from Goathland before stopping and heading back in the other direction.

Edit: 2392 as pipped me at the post!

Just watched the 15:30 depart Grosmont on the webcam with steam at each end. Is that the "new norm" as it has had a diesel on the north end when I have checked the past few days?
Difficult to tell loading's from the webcam, is it up to expectations?

Well thats not my sort of dayout with a diesel slogging it up goathland incline and not value for money if 6 are paying for a compartment at £150 to be towed by a diesel and the kettle on the back of the train simmering away, The only way to catch them out to see if its T and T with steam is to check the roster for the day to see what motive power is on the train. May as well just wait til 2021 when if when everything goes back to some sort of normality when a effective vaccine is found against covid 19. I think thats when ile start returning to the N.Y.M.R. again when this social distancing rules are relaxed and they bring their fares down a bit.

No the diesel has always been on the back up hill (North end) so not a total write off, but at £150 for 6 ( I assume £25 is a one return trip fare per head) then I would tend to agree with you I think.

Putting the fares up though is understandable seen as though the N.Y.M.R. need to claw their income back due to not been able to run a few months this year and also coal been harder to source due to the open cast coal mine closing in shotton in the north eastern region

I think it is steam at both ends of the train from Grosmont, and steam plus diesel from Pickering. Don't know why Pickering has to have the diesel, though, there are six engines available at the moment I think (r)30926, 92134 and 65894 have been used, 29, 45428 and 30825 still to appear) so they probably could T & T with steam if they were so inclined. Also, when 92134 has appeared it has been on the back of Grosmont- Goathland trains, which seems a bit of a waste!

Well it would just make sense to use 1 loco and save coaling costs afterall they can run round at whitby and even got a turntable at pickering to save them going tender 1st to whitby is there only certain lengh locos tankys that can use the turntable or is it out of use anyway?

The 9F can fit on the turntable, was used at the ASG last October, was part of the TV series.

The turntable [the former second at the NRM] is used primarily to turn the carriages in order to even out the tyre wear, on the bogies. As for the locomotives they've had the 9F 92134 on it last Autumn Gala [2019], though of the rest of the fleet they can get a Black 5 or S15 can fit better. If they were to turn an engine, it would be helpful to have another pair [one at Grosmont the other at Whitby] though where'd you put them as space, not to mention time too, is/are tight.......

Currently the Grosmont working is top and tailed as there is no run round loop at mile post 18. The services have been a mixture of top and tail steam or steam on the south end and diesel on the north end.

In terms of locomotives remember lock down occurred in the middle of winter maintenance so it wouldn't be unsurprising if there are niggles found in the first week or so. A number of locomotives are not yet back in use 5428, 80136, 1264 as there was still work to do when lock down occurred. 76079 was being retubed. The Q6 is to have a boiler lift this year given the limited mileage on offer in an effort to run the loco to 2028.

As for the £150 that is for the Whitby service. The fit Whitby locos are 926, 825.

Yes the prices are expensive but it could be seen as a donation to the railway

Steam top and tailed on the grosmont services as they run into section at goathland to give people a decent length journey. Sadly there's no run-around loop at MP18. The Pickering services run all day with one engine as thy can run-around at levisham. I can only assume a diesel went on the 15:30 due to steam failure.

    The Whitby services starting on the 17th comprise two return services per day from Pickering running non-stop;
Service 1: The Pickering departure at 09:20 will depart Whitby 14:00, allowing approx 3 hours in Whitby.
Service 2: The Pickering departure at 12:00 will depart Whitby at 16:30, allow approx 2 hours 45 mins in Whitby.
Time for fish and chips and a look around Whitby before returning back to Pickering on the same train as outward.
Tickets start at £35 pp return, with discounts available where appropriate.
