All the more reason to pay attention to it and take it on board IMHO. It's something I've been banging on about for ages - restrict criticism to those things which we *know* for sure. There is after all plenty of material in that category. Straying beyond that risks all criticism, justified and not, being lumped together as keyboard warrior rubbish and able to be dismissed as not worthy of being paid attention to, which is a shame.

Perhaps I haven't made it clear that, all things being equal, I would love to offer my full support to the WSR through these troubled times, having enjoyed 5 years as a volunteer there before we moved away, and having acted as an "interim" trustee of the WSRA in the successful effort to get rid of the "ex 6". As I have said before, it's a wonderful line, with a great bunch of volunteers at grass roots level.
But I just can't turn a blind eye to the recent actions of the current PLC board, particularly in the way they have treated the S&DRT. Before I retired I ran a very successful business on the basis of being straightforward, fair and honest with people, customers and employees alike, and I hate devious and underhand tactics. I hope any posts I have made on here reflect that view.

Roger, it's a shame you are not still here being the stalwart that you are.

Martin, doesn't that make the case for separating guided tours from working hours? (Something Llangollen should have thought about when I was on a tour group visit last year.)

My aim is good and true. I am not the one repetitively complaining about repetitiveness.

It’s a railway forum, by its nature almost everyone is repetitive about something: complaining about a diesel in a railtour, red Jubilees, complaining about mk1s, authenticity police, your loco is too big, your line is too long, demanding only good news about the WSR, photographers and the timers, every single politics thread etc etc, and the Edward Thompson thread says hi :)

Wanting railway enthusiasts to not be obsessive and repetitive is tilting at windmills.

There is no need for such negative thoughts when working on a spam can. All one needs to do, is to suspend belief that someone actually designed it like that, and get on with the task in hand.

Bulleid thought he was producing a locomotive which needed less maintenance. S.C. Townroe pointed out that they required more fitters than a "Nelson" but still had a poorer availability.

Which is broadly an observation that held true in recent experience on the MHR as well.

I was cleaning the exhaust ports on Balmoral's original engines, 6cyl 'Sirron' O Types.

The conclusion was that Kent Norris - Newbury's designer had it in for Motormen, perhaps one of his girlfriends ran off with one, as its a horrible job.

Anyway, back to the subject, has there been any updates as regards the eviction issue ?

Tomorrow marks 6 months since the date of the 'Notice to Quit' over Washford.

The Bailey Report has been with the receipiants for some 2 and a half months.

My point is that half of the 12 month statutory time limit of the 'Notice to Quit' will have expired by the date of service on 10th February.

Do you not think the SDRT board are conscious of this point ?

Be patient, negotiations are ongoing ......

Looking at a photo of the lack of work happening on 53808, I wouldn't be surprised if this is a ploy by the wsr to further cost the S&D trust more money on top of paying to Move 53808 to Hampshire, dismantle and remove all their possessions from Washford, Pay for storage of said items, then pay to move 53808 back to a line where they are not welcome and trust it would be overhauled in a fit and timely manner.

Kinda stunt they would pull If I was a group on the line with locos or an item of rolling stock there. I'd be worried I was next and about the care, they take with said items,

The obvious observation is that were the case to go to Court, and assuming that the WSR reopens as normal in Late March, it could kick off at the lowest possible point in the WSR's finances

I'm sure a payment plan could be arranged If they don't want a fire sale to raise the settlement monies.
