Thing is now the Moors have a "stand in" for Toby the Tram engine. They need a suitable carriage to stand in for Henrietta too :Chillout:o_O!

With apologies to the Late Rev W. Awdry;).

It's lovely and looks like a fantastic job has been done , but at Whitby I could see some confusing it for a mobile baked potato stall,

Tends to be the 9F 9.20 ex Pickering, with the cl 25 between Grosmont and Whitby, and either Repton or Southern 825 on the 12.00 ex Pickering. But I wouldn’t guarantee... Plus if it’s raining then sometimes the 9F will double-head the 16.30 ex Whitby between Grosmont and Goathland.

It has been the 9f on the morning run all week so far.
I'm travelling tomorrow afternoon and am very much looking forward to a run over the Moors!

The Whitby trains seemed very well loaded during my visit but didn't get to see any of the Goathland shuttles that started running from the Monday. Took a trip on the Monday and the NYMR seem to have got a good system to enable them to run trains with the added difficulty of making things Covid safe.

Whitby trains have generally been well loaded, given that they are only operating at about half their genuine capacity. I understand that the Goathland shuttles are covering their operating costs. One interesting aspect to come out of on-line booking is that the majority of bookings are made within four days of travel. The graph of bookings for each individual day is pretty consistent with a slow initial rise followed by a rapid climb on minus day four and a levelling off on the remaining days.

Virtually all the Goathland shuttles this week have been running fully booked, which is good news. I took the 11am shuttle one way Grosmont to Goathland last Wednesday, had lunch at the Inn on the Moor before walking back the 3 1/2 miles back via the Rail Trail. An enjoyable day out.

I just booked this am for the 9.20 ex Pickering on Sat 25th and Sun 26th, I was surprised (and relieved) to be able to book as I thought they'd be booked up, even though it's not a Gala.:(

At least I'll get some sort of NYMR fix this year, even if it's without a freight, some milling around aimlessly, a couple of visits to the Grosmont Bookshop and, of course, two of the most powerful words in the English language - Beer Festival.

Fingers crossed some reasonable weather, maybe the 9F, or Repton which is not bad, for a Southern Engine. :);)

OK not directly the Moors, but...... These YouTube features show part of the Esk Valley being re-ballasted after new track has been laid. This is part of the section between Grosmont and Battersby, the limit of the NYMR's open access TOC license. Bar part of the first video showing the Ballast train at Nunthorpe, where the Network Rail Signalman is based. The Nunthorpe Signalman is the person the Moors Crews at Grosmont contact in order to gain access to/from the Esk Valley Line for their service to Whitby Town.
