I am sure many will remember these two from the pre covid times. The reservations slips visible are not theirs, they refused to move, the XC train manager refused to get involved just moved the people who seats they should have been (mother child and baby from memory). I think it may have been an upgrade to First Class but not really the point.

It may not be risk to body and limb, but enforcement action when people get awkward is a difficult situation. And that's why the gung ho posting from Martin needs to be questioned - I see and believe that the MHR will be managing expectations from the start, so minimising the possibility of issues.

My experience of the station and on train staff at the Mid Hants is that they are generally pretty good at interaction with the public (if you didn't enjoy the interaction, you wouldn't choose to do it in your spare time) and as 21B says, the railway will help people out where they have messed up their plans.
I agree, I'm sure everything will be put in place to make it work, and if it's found that some of the processes could be improved, the lessons will be learnt.
We're in this for at least the next 6 months, so ways have to be found for life to carry on as much as possible. The country either pushes on with trying to make things work, or it stagnates (or worse0 for the next 6+ months.

I know which side of the coin I would rather happens.

In fairness, 99 per cent of the people would when asked move, or the person who had the reservation, if it were a family and you were on your own, and it meant splitting the family up, offer to take one of their seats, Iam of course, referring to the 1 per cent, who would refuse to move, who refuse to come to any agreement, the I'm not moving for no one brigade, then I think it right to ask them to leave the train .

That's all very well but what law exactly have they broken? Being in a group of more than 6 or not wearing a mask on public transport may be illegal but I don't think sitting in someone else's seat or being on the wrong train is.

No but it might be in violation of conditions of carriage though therefore your ticket becomes invalid.

West Ham United fans were the intercity crew. From memory they cut out coupons from the back of Persil boxes. Which allowed them to travel first class at a cheaper reduced price.

Fortunately we lack any blue grey coaches to recreate the football specials of the 70s and 80s.

However, we do have a very nice Jubilee visiting and a 7F, so....there are some tickets still available....

Looks good. Just curious as to why 30925 isn't running. Is it due for some maintenance or will it be a spare loco for the event?

30925 is spare engine. Likely to be in light steam. If we had used it we would have had trouble making sensible use of the loco. We count ourselves very lucky to be able to have a spare.

Not even close, Millwall is on the wrong side of the river, Its South London. And we hated one another, Mile End Underground station was normally where it all kicked off.

The 'Bahamas Loco Society' sales stand will be based at Ropley for the Gala their goods can be seen on their website http://ingrowlocomuseum.com/?page_id=1051

I understand there'll be full size replica '45596' smoke box plates for sale and a selection of second hand 'OO' guage steam and diesel locos on offer too.

Is it too early to be asking the direction that the locos will be facing?

    All the best
    Matt :)

Bahamas will be facing london , most main line engines arrive having run via guildford, so run tender first, from Guildford to Alton, then when they return, to the mainline, they are facing chimney first.
