Ah, another champion of censorship. Of course, it's well known that the quickest way to solve a problem is to prevent people from talking about it, just as the best way to stop a safety valve lifting too often is to screw it down a bit harder.

As I have shared before I am of the opinion that none of the protagonists from whichever side really come out of this with any credit .

the division that has been apparent for a number of years continues and once again the usual suspects ride to each others aid

What saddens me is what feels like an effort to undermine one individual either through some very unpleasant direct posts which have resulted in individuals being suspended or banned , or the whispering campaign we see from some with innuendo and supposition.

I don't see the forum as anti WSR , nor anti PLC however when you have a gift that keeps on giving and unable to get the basics of management and stakeholder communication right then those involved need to understand that the brickbats are going to fly

I am also, as I think many contributors to the thread are, not so blind as to realise there are many subplots in play as well and some will simplify this to an evolving head to head between two individuals .

Whilst I appreciate that those involved in the WSR have its present and future very close to their hearts I also think this blinds them to the damage being wrought , something all too apparent to those less close . Whatever resolution occurs , some people do need to ride off into the sunset and let a new generation chart the course for the railway

  3. Having attended the WSRA AGM remotely I am pleased at how it was conducted and that questions and answers were possible, both from the floor and online.

Congratulations to the candidates elected today as Trustees of the WSRA, in free and fair elections.

Let us hope that the WSSRT will follow suit and set a new date for their AGM very soon.

Was it by unanimous vote then Robin?

Were there other nominations or were they all elected?

Not being a member of the WSRA any longer I would not know

Of course, what is missing from this question is the related one of what caused such correspondence in the first place. I find it interesting that when things are said in public about the conduct of a protagonist one one side of WSR affairs, lawyers letters are sent despite, prima facie, the comments being true and the allegations derided; yet where lesser correspondence is sent, the attack is on the issuer and does not seem to consider why it may have been sent. It looks suspiciously like victim blaming from here.

It is consistent with a theme of many WSR affairs, where personal animosities seem to determine how individuals stand on matters of substance, and the tendency is to play the man and not the ball. Where deployed in support of the current management, it has a depressing tendency to be linked to admiration of that management combined with utter silence as to how that management is actually going to achieve anything when the best they can claim for this year is a couple of open weekends and some weeding parties.

  9. Richard,

WSRA AGM documents are available on our website and can be viewed by members and non-members alike.

All those standing as trustee candidates were duly elected.

Well the chain of events seems to be:
    1. Some forum member posted something on here that was a personal attack on another member. I missed it, because it broke forum rules but @Monkey Magic said it was "transphobic abuse aimed at Robin Moira White".
    2. rodders154 then pops up and complains that someone had "threatened another person on the railway with legal action for defamation" and therefore harassed them, implying this was Robin White, without mentioning the cause.
    3. Several members, myself included then post saying that rodders154's position on harassment was inconsistent, to say the least.
    4. rodders154 is given notice that his posts are being monitored as he is considered a serial breaker of the forum rules.
    5. @FrankC and @Maunsell907 then post defending rodders154, apparently simply on the grounds that he was a friend of theirs and apparently in ignorance of step 1.
    6. @Snifter implies that there was a clear electronic trail leading from the person who made the deleted posts and the "long serving, much respected ( both on the WSR and throughout both the Heritage and the 'Main Line' sectors) person" who was on the receiving end of the letter giving notice of legal action.

I know my IT skills are wanting Barrie but I cannot find anything on the WSRA website in answer to any of my questions

Were there any nominees who were Not Elected and were the Rest of you elected Unanimously?

Why don't you ask Rodders yourself DIRECT?

The information I have received is that he had good cause!

You are mixing two separate issues here and for the record what was written about Robin White needed to be removed - the shame is that so many of us were unfortunate enough to see it!!

Seems to work for me https://www.wsra.org.uk/agm_2020/

Candidates for election were: JEFF PRICE, GEOFF GARFIELD, ROBIN MOIRA WHITE, BARRIE CHILDS. All are on the list of the post-AGM Trustees and so all were elected.

"Unfortunately Diana Ricketts-Tanner has withdrawn her application and is no longer standing for election as a Trustee."

    That I don't know

I would be delighted to discover that these two issues are separate. You may need to forgive me, however, if I find it harder to accept the views of @rodders154 and his friends and defenders that the resort to mention of defamation is in itself unreasonable, especially when they seem so supportive of the oppressive approach taken by those with whom they appear to agree.

All of which demonstrates that the claims about the impossibility of holding a Q&A at the PLC AGM is a nonsense.

Likewise, it also shows that there are no technological barriers to the WSSRT also holding their AGM as soon as possible.

The person who engaged in the transphobic abuse was Bristolian116.

All those standing for election were, to the best of my knowledge, elected with substantial majorities.

That is not true and if I gave that impression in any way then I apologise. I am confident that there is absolutely no link between the disgraceful posts that were made on this forum and the other matter to which I think you refer.
