York ROC probably deserve some credit too for giving the tour a clear run that allowed so much time to be made up. It would have been all too easy to send the Bradford stopper out in front of it at Skipton then make it wait for TPE services at Leeds.

Sounds like they need a decent Southern driver up there who knows how to handle a Bulleid!!

 

Looking at the timings, there doesn't seem to be a water stop between Hellifield and Scarborough?

 

I think BIL had a 6000 gal tender so it’s possible but doesn’t leave much safety margin. Let’s hope the fireman knows how to handle a Bulleid boiler, it’s 30 gal a minute wasted when the safety valves blow

Footage of 35018 slipping past Clapham then accelerating hard across the River Aire between Skipton and Cononley.

 

35018 Stall and restart at Starricks, Low Bentham, Clapham and leaving Hellifield.

 

I take that back as, from looking at the video footage, the steam sanders aren’t working which would explain a lot. Either a malfunction or someone forgot to fill the sandboxes! If it’s the latter i would have thought it would have been picked up on the FTR exam.

 

Any word on scarborough departure?

 

According RTT Galberta’s move is cancelled as of a few mins ago stock is still in sidings at Scarborough . Not good!

 

Still in sidings, loco not currently on train. Talk of brake problems on a carriage.

RTT saying train back to Carnforth is cancelled!

 

Is it running back in a different path? The original shows up as cancelled on real time trains.

 

Not now cancelled. Presume problem may be rectified and will run, but late.

 

RTT still has the move from the Excursion Sidings as canx but as you say the homebound has been reinstated.
