All candidates were voted for individually and each of the 10 were around the same figure, some a few more some a few less. Rough average was around 50 votes for the candidate, 130 against & 4 abstentions. There were at least 2 of the 10 on the zoom meeting and I am sure they will be able to answer any questions.

I didn't think the result would be as decisive as it was and didn't know which way it would go and I wouldn't have put money on the result before the meeting.

    The membership has spoken.

Was the votes for/against resolution 7 similar to those votes on the ten please?

Yes, when the result is overwhelming, I suspect a Lukashenko operation. A smaller majority for the status quo, even one or two new trustees, would have looked better. In Singapore, the dictator Lee Quan Yu had the sense to allow one opposition member in parliament to at least give a pretence of democracy!

So did I. I wonder where our votes went?

In the past, one might have been tempted to look in the firebox of a passing locomotive...but of course, there are none at the moment :)

If the chance of progress has ben so decidedly rejected I worry even more for the future of WSR under the present management.

The votes cast were for individual candidates, and at this meeting we were given the votes cast for, against and abstentions, so they will be available in the AGM minutes in due course. Nothing to see here. Please move along!

Yes, can we get back to the Case of the Mysterious Lack of Action on Seaward Way Crossing and the Case of the Mysterious Lack of News on the Spending of the Culture Recovery Fund, over one month gone out of six before the money vanishes and £865,000 to spend? Perhaps February will bring us a Somerset version of "Brewster's Billions"?

That's the end of one plan for introducing change at the WSR. That seems to leave the Bailey plan, with a very uncertain timescale and a very high cost. Any others?

What's the point? No-one seems to want to change. I think we ought to give those currently in charge until the end of March to turn the company around and see how they get on.

Usual calls on Farcebook for the 'ten' to 'resign and never return' with a fair degree of support

Nothing changes. Glad to have zero involvement these days.

Being a little provocative , a chapter has closed today on the WSR . A direction set . I'm almost tempted to close this thread and start a fresh one

I notice that this thread is now on Page 1750 and post #35000 is going to appear any moment and the WSR civil war on Nat Pres carries on unabated. Unbelieveable!

I have never been a member of the WSSRT and am neutral on the questions of who should sit on its Board and on whether or not it should merge with the WSRA.

But assuming that the summary of the AGM at Post #34940 is accurate, I am appalled at the vicious abuse reportedly aimed by the Acting Chair of the WSSRT at "The Ten". This is clearly not a person who believes in trying to heal wounds or to show magnanimity in victory. On the contrary, it seems to show a macho management culture at its worst.

If you close this thread we’ll only get another one with a 1000 plus post’s regurgitating what’s already on here.

I don’t think things will change though will they? I look at other established railways like the Severn Valley, North York Moors, Bluebell (premier league establishments if you like) and how they’ve adapted to the current situation, I then look at somewhere like the Spa Valley and the recent article with Johnnie Pay in Steam Railway and how positive they’re trying to be with the new partnership with Southern Locomotives Limited, in such a crap year this is a decent bit of news.
All I see when I look at the West Somerset is just a massive car crash that when you turn your back and look again gets bigger and even worse.
Has the wind been sown? I really hope the whirlwind will not be there to be reaped.

I understand the commissioning date for the new level crossing arrangement is currently estimated for June 2021.
