Why would you think Doniford was a 'fake'? It's a Halt, trains stop there (except in 2020 !), passengers get on or off etc.

As it’s been made to look like it was always there. But it wasn’t years ago before 1987

Accepting what you say for the moment, perspective is a wonderful thing. Would you not accept, Ian, that the letter referred to (not my letter) was sent because the WSSRT Chairman put his name to a communication to WSSRT members breaching the data privacy of several member-candidates which could be interpreted as an attempt to influence the WSSRT electorate?

    An error of judgment, Ian?

My error was to presume that someone would input a date correctly on two fairly important documents. I stand corrected.

The DEPG has always struck me as managing to isolate themselves from the West Somerset Disease. Well done them. Perhaps it's the heat from the firebox that makes some steam enthusiasts get so hot under the collar.

You disappoint me, Ian. There was I thinking that Chris Austen had made a serious error and done the honourable thing and resigned over it.

I’m sorry if I’ve bored you, for the record no I wasn’t taught ‘Precis’ at school, in fact I didn’t learn anything at school and came out with next to no qualifications at all. I was the product of a comprehensive school who only kept us off the streets to stop us getting into too much trouble and didn’t teach us anything, I worked in school time to help my single parent mum who was holding down three jobs to keep us so I was never going to be able to go to University even if I had had the qualifications and we lived on a sink council estate where even the Postmen went round in three’s. I’ve also struggled with partial Dyslexia all my life.

My qualifications as a time served Certified Engineer, Fellowship of the Institute of the Motor Industry, Member of the Institute of Management, Management Qualifications, Certification as a Trainer of Management Trainers and Programme Developer by around 12 UK Vehicles Manufacturers’, An Accredited Project Manager and Account Manager for various national business’s including Motability and General Motors, Authorised and Accredited Vehicle Examiner and Inspector, Business Consultant Qualifications, Member of the Recruitment & Employment Confederation through the Institute of Recruitment Professionals and a number of Directorships over the last 15 years including my own business for the last 10 years, all came later and mostly through night school and some very good employers who believed in me and gave me all the support and development I needed to move forward, so I’m not moaning about any of it because I’ve had a great career so far and a bad start made it happen because I had to fight for it.

As for long posts (and I’m sure of course you won’t have read this far because it’s another long post), I think detail is important in this context of a complex set of interwoven issues, I like to justify what I say and give people enough detail to challenge me if they wish and I would hope perhaps somebody may find something I say useful. Plus the WSR is in my opinion worth the time spent writing them. I don’t like short throw away sound bites like ‘cuckoos in nests’, trouble makers’, ‘mentally unstable’, ‘a roll around on the platform’, ‘you have lost your ID card until you learn to shut up’ or ‘stop this or you will be sorry’, because they all mean nothing and don’t help mend the WSR. I also don’t like Bullies, they just make me stand taller.

Unfortunately yet again I’ve been deflected onto defending myself from personal insults and justify my existence instead of focusing on a broken and bleeding WSR and helping to try and fix it, it’s just a sorry theme that’s getting worse and just shows this internal WSR war is never going to end.

You could of course just not read my posts at all or block me, because if you read this far you may see you have struck a nerve with your comments. Now back to trying to help the WSR steer through the pickle it’s found itself in.

@smithersmark600 - you are swiping at the wrong posters. On any forum like this there are folks who write things that are worth reading and engaing with and others who should not be taken too seriously. I'm not sure that your contributions are any more constructive than the ones you've been responding to recently

I think the 'new WSSRT 10 trustee candidates' who lost last Saturday ought to be a bit more gracious in accepting their defeat.

On other matters, the DELPG have raised concerns over the dodgy/dangerous roof of Williton Goods Shed for some considerable time, and the survey and inspection is long overdue.

I am not the only person rather surprised that the WSR plc board has announced nothing of any note in the last 2 months. Perhaps, like a magician, rabbits will be pulled out of hats, ahead of the WSR plc AGM, and we are deliberately kept waiting for the 'show'/'performance'/'sleight-of-hand'?

Seems pretty gracious to me, with some attempt to highlight the issues which blight this unfortunate railway:

“We are disappointed that our reform agenda has not found favour with the membership of the WSSRT.

We do of course respect the decision.

It is now for the Trustees of the WSSRT (and specifically those Trustees who also sit as PLC Directors) to ensure that the concerns we have raised about the wider interests of the members, volunteers and supporters of the West Somerset Railway that arise from their decision to remain outside of the proposed new structure prove to be unfounded.

Furthermore, we look to the WSSRT Trustees to actively, independently and responsibly manage their share interest in the PLC, given the PLC's questionable commercial response to the pandemic, the reputational damage caused by the PLC’s eviction of the S&D Trust and, most recently, their evident failure to maintain the WSR in operational condition as witnessed by the recent ORR letter to staff and volunteers.

Thank you to all who supported us.”

    WSSRTcandidates.

Yes, I know all that, but today we have had Brian and Robin departing from the above statement you quoted, that personally I considered unnecessary and unhelpful.

Just my personal opinion of course.

The accusation that Chris Austin and David Baker had resigned on 23rd September was obviously an error on the now online form submitted.

I don't think anything is gained either by dredging up again the disclosure of addresses. You can check the electoral roll, and do lots of searches online, and in the past via a BT phone book collection in a public library; so I think this was some being rather 'precious', and with feigned indignation and protest.

As for the comment about the K&ESR board, what was the point of that?
