On our visit to South Wales scrapyards (see Newport thread) our train passed 92220 dumped in a siding opposite Pontypool Road shed, with front end damage apparent.
This was June 1966 from memory.

Some interesting comments on the 4920 page that would indicate that the sale of the loco has been agreed. No purchaser name given but apparently it's 'to a location that it WON'T be available to purchase from' The person making this statement is a reliable source who posts on here.

    Let the speculation begin!

Probably not sufficiently more than you could make from a non-working one with a few smoke effects to make it worth restoring.

I might be wrong, but my sense is that the vast majority of people for whom it would be a draw in the first place would want to turn up, take a selfie in front of it, move on - rather less enamoured with a mainline or heritage line trip of the kind we are used to.

No, he’s Graham Fellows (and Gordon’s still a moron!) - I’m a real Shuttleworth but I’m afraid I know nothing about the goings on of that 9F.

What is there at Tebay? Is it a staging point on a journey, or a destination?

From what I understand they will be staying there in a secure compound.
