Are you sure about Dorothy 1568? I have got it down as being at Abbotts Bromley. Is it a very recent arrival at Statfold?

Spence 21 is privately owned so not at risk

I know nothing about that particular loco, which may indeed be perfectly safe, but the fact of being privately owned by no means ensures that.

Always the contentious point, deeming someone else's property "at risk"

If that was to be used as the criteria then I think that a very large proportion of preserved NG locos would be regarded as being 'at risk' :)

I think the OP was probably thinking more of locos lying in sidings or dismantled in a field that haven't been touched for years.

There certainly are locos that are at risk and locos that are safe, but I would be dubious about the correlation with ownership.

Sorry about that, my list in message #39 was just meant to be one that of locos that have an unknown status, rather than locos that are "at risk".

No criticism intended, worry not, and I took your post that way, perhaps I'm just a bit wary. Unknown is fine (well, it in't but you know what I mean!) It's an interesting list, something to ponder and dsicuss as is happening here :)

9922/10701 - they are definitely for sale (I spoke to the guy at Willenhall), but don't approach him purely speculatively...
8282 - fairly certain she was salvaged for parts and scrapped

I hadn't realised 7122 was at Exmoor - is it just there for work or do they own her?

As the OP I think I was wanting to see how many engines were still left ‘in a field’ waiting for a restoration group to restore the engine. That applies equally to engines already secure but awaiting restoration, I would like to think they are safe but the preservation world is a strange creature.
As an aside. I have no idea what happened to the engine at PQR. It was there and then it wasn’t. It wasn’t stored at Felin Fawr but at another secure location.
Once life returns to some kind of normality I hope people have a look at the engines mentioned in earlier postings.
Thank you for your interesting and erudite replies.
