Had anyone seen the motion picture epic that is "Brewster's miillions".

There is a (sub-minor league) baseball pitch with a railway running through it. I wonder if it was prototypical?

Landsdowne road has the DART running under one of the stands. A few yards to the left and it would have been similar...

 

The Hawthorns:

 

On this theme the classic film was 'The Love Match' made in 1955 starring Arthur Askey and Glenn Melvyn.
It was on YouTube but there are only short clips of it on there now.

The 'Everton' plate which wasn't owned by the club was bought by a former member of the Liverpool Loco Preservation group direct from B.R. for four pounds.

Before this time a year ago when things all went wrong my parents have walked to Bewdley station and used the SVR for the first part of their trip to the Hawthorns, amongst others they’ve had 1501, 2857, 6990 34053, and 75069 for motive power for the first leg of their trips to The Hawthorns, I’ll try and dig it out but there’s a photo of 34053 going past Kidderminster Junction somewhere think it’s on a footex to Villa Park? I think it went to Tyseley for servicing.

 

Think there’s been a few footballers plates been sold for a pittance. GBrF has a few 66/7 footballers on its books now including some non original’s like W********ton.

 

When non-league Kidderminster Harriers reached the FA Cup third round with a home tie, the SVR ran a steam passenger service with a 'Kidder for the Cup' headboard, earning publicity for doing so. It lead to winter weekend services which lasted for several years, since discontinued in favour again of a winter shutdown.

That was with 48773 wasn’t it? I vaguely remember it.

 

One of the first services on the GCR in 1973 ran with this headboard!

 

There's a station attached to a decent ground in the M16 district of Manchester. Alas it's been many along year since steam passed there and probably will never do.

 

I well recall the surprise of the 1960s seeing 46248 City of Leeds passing through Princes St Gardens working a Perth - Easter Road special for a S Johnston - Hibernian away game. The rarity of such a working caught out many local enthusiasts on the day as was the surprise of Perth using the loco as a fill-in turn.

 

I've always wanted a framed version of this picture. I also believe the Arsenal nameplate from B17 2848 is still on display in the former booking hall inside the Marble Halls at Highbury and the current site of the Emirates Stadium was also the former Ashburton Grove sidings I think.

9F 92214 also runs with blue Leicester City nameplates on the GCR.
