    From Urban Dictionary

    Crayonista
One who performs strategic transport planning with a box of coloured crayons/pens, using them to draw lines on a map, without thinking through the implications.
"He thought of a way of linking two train lines together without any thought of how it could be achieved. He is such a Crayonista"

NO, Tom, No, Don't say those words,:eek:
As regards extending to Farnham, It was talked about , in the mess quite a lot, but the feeling was, it would be the extension that killed us, We would have had to have built a new station, as we wouldn't have had access to Farnham station, as most likily the sheds would have been retained, and that would have meant building a station and run round, on the sidings behind the sheds. , of course, had the sheds been part of the deal, then that would have been very useful covered accommodation.
When the line was singled, i suspect that in BR's eyes that would have been the first step towards closure , at a later date, but then the oil field and pipeline come on stream, and traffic started to pick up.

The sidings at Farnham and Holybourne would have sorted a few issues and then there would have been the no doubt endless speculation about the extension to Bordon to enjoy.

No there is upwards or downwards. Those grass clippings are actually a secret tunnel that the MHR has been building. The spoil will be used to build a second track above the first.

There is also round and round.

I think it is very nice that the person responsible for the the Northern Ireland - Scotland tunnel proposal has come on the forum.

Once at Bordon then it is not too far to Liss ;)

If it gets built to its full 230 mile length between Lyndon near Oakham and Barnstaple I imagine more than an odd house will need demolishing .
Will a day return ticket or sleeper service be available please ?

Firstly, the secret tunnel ( the one that leads to the Strategic reserve underground depot) does not exist, , has never existed, ;)
the extension actually is to link up with the Marchwood Military Railway, and a facility near Hythe but I never told you that :Shifty::Shifty:

I bet some of those 'in the know' on here are laughing aloud at all this speculation when in reality the siding extention that is going in is quite obvious.

Where is the new siding going? Is it at the end of the ones there?

No, it's going in the middle (so they'll probably have to move some of the existing track along a bit to make room ;)).

This thread needs a discussion about valve gear.

Hopefully we can all be allowed to travel there one day to see what they are doing. I’d like to see the wagons again and there is lots to see at that railway that wasn’t there a few years ago

OK, Serious question, how far back is the boundary on the former meon valley formation at the Butts, is there room to put in a couple of sidings there, accessed from the Alton loop security isnt going to be the best in the world, which might be a problem, but i'm sure that if the Coaches that are out of use currently stored at Alresford were moved, then that would free up siding space,

It is heading towards London, but it won't get there due to a bridge getting in the way ;)

I have had some time to study the whole line on google and what is this? Is the manager on here able to explain this what’s happening?

Looking at the photo. It’s the old track formation of the Meon Valley line at Butts junction. The chalk you can see is the earth works removed from Ropley headshunt when the headshunt was extended last year to allow extra stock to be stored at Ropley when Butts bridge was replaced.
