I travelled Saturday behind 75014, bought ticket the day before, when I discovered Kingwear Castle,doesn't run Fridays. Didn't one of the 45xx locos have a new boiler built in the last few years?

ISTR that a spare boiler came with 4555 when originally purchased from B.R.
Ray.

I wonder how many other lines will have second thoughts given the latest Covid information.

 

It is interesting that those with the most experience of running the train of lights (DSR) and polar express (MNR and Telford) have cancelled their respective events, whilst those who haven’t run the trains before/for as many years continue on.

 

A post on NP, by someone with knowledge and experience of lighting explained the high costs of these kind of ventures. That, coupled most with the social distancing requirements, probably gave theme cause for concern.
I am not surprised.

 

Any ideas what locos are operating this w/end and over this coming half term week? TIA

That’s totally unauthentic, that never happened in the old days!

 

The PDR were never a serious preserved railway. They are better than they were though

 

They do seem to be a bit more enthusiastic towards gricers and cranks these days I must say.

 

To be fair that S160 in red does look rather good...

Funny how three of the TDR stud were once part of the NYMR fleet.

 

Isn't this down to Mr Best migrating south to a warmer climate?

 

Well 75014 was never part of Peter’s stable but granted 2253 & 4277 were. As long as 44806 doesn’t follow.

 

Oh come on Steve, a little bit of missionary work with 44806 wouldn’t do those in the south west any harm

 

Looks like Winston Churchill from the RHDR (Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway) is carrying some Covid weight…

What I been told that 44806 is getting overhauled at the Moors. The frames, cab and tender at Grosmont MPD. The boiler is being overhauled at Ian Riley Engineering, Heywood. The aim is to have the loco running in about 2 to 3 years time to replace 76079 on the Whitbys. So the loco will be based at the Moors after overhaul.
