Hi all , these are some pictures/posts I’ve found on Facebook which I have been trying to build a connection with the readers.
Please note these are from the past 4 years. See how much progress was made. When we started there was next to no track down and all rolling stock was neglect from maintenance. Again please remember we are ALL volunteers including management.

To add something positive from some one involved in a similar railway, which has been neglected and for various reasons left to its own devices. Its positive to see a line come back from the dead, and the efforts of all the TVLR are an inspiration. Keep it going folks...

Can I ask those with better business heads than mine: I looked at the filed accounts Dec 2018, which seem to show debts of £30k ish. On the other hand, assets appear to be £400k+. Am I reading this right? ( I have never had to deal with real accounts-I operate on a cash in/cash out basis)
I had gained the impression that the TVR was massively, catastrophically in debt due to the bad land train man. I know £30,000 is a lot of money if your turnover is small, and its rotten that the railway is saddled with debts due to someone else's misadventure, but it seems there are other lines where the freehold of their line is owned by a benign council, and every asset on site is in hock to the bank. The TVR's situation seems hardly in the same league

The Company bought the Emlyn branch line in 1980 for £15,000 - 9 miles of derelict trackbed with all bridges intact except one (removed by a local farmer). Vitally all the land was covered by a Light Railway Order, giving the prospect of future income from trading. Year by year the land was cleared, track laid, platforms built, buildings constructed - all increasing the value of the property. Its value was reduced however by some misguided sales of parts of the trackbed to raise cash. Following accounting rules, the value is also slightly reduced every year by a process called depreciation which accounts for general wear and tear. So the £400k figure of long ago has long since been a distant memory. Basically the Company is asset-rich but cash-poor.
Personally I don't think the immense damage inflicted by Dearing was sufficiently accounted for in the 2015 Accounts. But now track has been laid some value has hopefully been restored.

I thought that some of the land past Pentrecwrt halt, and the Newcastle Emlyn side of the bridge had been sold off. The old station at Llandydul is under the new bypass now as well.

I will no longer be engaging with comments regarding the past and or past events as it always ends the same.
If the railway decides a post is to go up I will do so on behalf of the railway.
Our Facebook is where live updates are made and more frequent progress posts are made.
    Thanks

Does the Railway have a bilingual policy? I can see only english on the Facebook page and the website.
If it doesn't - why not?

    Moderator Comment -

We have decided as a team that enough is enough with the continual spat between certain parties in the thread.

Therefore going forwards this thread will be purely for the discussion of the railways operation and rebuilding only.

Any posts that are not about either of these will be removed and if necessary issue warnings or potentially restricting access to the forum of those unable to follow these perimeters.

There is no point in dwelling in the past and we have removed a large number of posts from the thread which fall outside of these boundaries.

Now it is time to draw a line in the sand and move on.

We look forward to hearing about the operations and rebuilding of the railway over the coming years.

I think this is most regrettable. I read the whole thread just a few days ago and, given the lines recent history, was struck by the reasonableness of @Elizabeth Perry. She quite clearly has the best interests of the line in mind.

Why should this minor discussion be curtailed when the vituperative discussions about the WSR have run on for thousands of posts?

I’m sorry but we have our reasons which I cannot go into publicly and I’m afraid the decision has been made and won’t be changed.

Just to clarify, we haven’t singled anyone out it applies to every member equally. At the same time everyone is still welcome to post in the thread as long as they stick to the aforementioned boundaries.

As interesting as the debate is on Bilingual websites, it doesn’t fit inside the remit of the thread. As there is a discussion developing, I have moved the appropriate posts to a new thread for the discussion to continue which can be found on the link below -
    https://www.national-preservation.com/threads/welsh-railway-websites-bilingual-or-not.1418783/

Please use this thread to discuss further, to allow this thread to concentrate and focus the on the operations and rebuilding of the TVR.

There is news about the TVR on their Facebook page. They are running a few Santa trains and intend to run steam at Easter. Don't say whether this will be Sgt Murphy or Alan George.

News on Facebook page - a digger is seen in a wilderness near the former spruce plantation. More tracklaying to follow? No other changes - Sgt Murphy's boiler still in the shed.

I think given the depths that have been plumbed here, any news is good news.
