That's a surprising (to me) observation but you will know. That suggests to me that it's a significant piece of work and for that reason makes sense.

LMS will be getting expert at Bulleid boilers as they have been doing a lot of the work on Boscastle's boiler.

Either that or a small piece of work that requires some bulky, specialist equipment

Having got my video editing computer working again, I've been catching up with some recent events. Here's a short film of 34046 Braunton on last September's Cotswold Express; seen at Culham, Lyneham & Thrupp.

Or that the boiler smiths don't much like the idea of commuting to a remote site or living out of a hotel. There are all sorts of possible factors that may not seem that great individually, but add up put together.

Another very interesting update from SLL about their Bulleids in various locations. Sidmouth is to return to Sellinge for grit blasting of the frames etc. I'm sure this will be put on their website soon.

"Brentor" is running at the Spa Valley this weekend!....
    From the SLL website
"Meanwhile Sir Keith Park will take on a new identity in June. It will be renamed and numbered as 34095 Brentor over the weekend 26-27th June with plates owned by Mr Phill Brentor for a family occasion."

I can’t seem to find it yet it here’s as good as place as any to publicise it, lovely piece in the latest Steam Railway about a certain Merchant Navy, (yes 35028 I’m looking at you!)
Some cracking photos from a certain @Johnb to accompany it as well.
As I say well worth checking out although you will have to put up with @S.A.C. Martin’s mug staring back at you on one page ;)
Really makes me want to pay a visit to the Bluebell in October.

Apropos the claim that Bulleids are more prone to slipping than other Pacifics, see alts1985's video where BIL slips on both departures and Tornado doesn't (on its one loaded departure).

Anyone of the relevant experience care to put together a 'Top 5 slippers' countdown ?
Would those Bulleids come top ... ?

Anyone who stood at the north end of Crewe station up to September 1964 would see almost every departing Duchess slipping.
