Does anyone know if the Trust was successful in bidding for the disable cess coach (or any other vehicle for that matter?

I'm sure there will be some announcements in due course. Probably we'll have to wait for the paperwork to be signed off.

It was with Rivera trains many moons ago but they moved it on without doing any work so quite likely wasn’t the best condition then and that was around 20 years ago.

Its subsequent history (from VCT database): "Purchased by Riviera Trains, stored at Crewe Carriage Shed. Then purchased by CAR Services (UK) 10/03 ex Old Oak Common. To Meldon Quarry for restoration and eventual lease to Dartmoor Railway. Then to private owner and to Llangollen 05/09 for continuing restoration. Has been converted to a full kitchen (no seating). No activity evident when seen 10/14 and 05/18 (at Carrog)".
So, basically oou and deteriorating outside for years, all seating areas removed and little or no prospect of it ever being of any use to LR.

Given all that, not surprising it didn't sell at £22k...

The pics on the bidding website showed at least one smashed window (small sliding one), which is never good from keeping-out-the-elements point of view.

Seeing comments elsewhere that apparently there is a railway possibly interested in the RBR, they didn’t bid as they were unable to view it before the auction ended, due to the lateness of its entry.

No direct news, but I did see on Facebook that apparently some of the items wanted were obtained for further use at Llangollen, not sure what though.

The late entry wouldn't have helped as, quite rightly, you would like to look round it before buying.

Especially if the railway in question is quite a distance away.

Since the viewing was Sunday and Monday anyway, not before or after, I don't think the late entry made any difference. Being air brake only may have narrowed the field a bit though.

Apparently it did, that was why the railway were now seeking the owners contact details.

Maybe. Maybe the reserve price was too high. It is hardly unusual for a lot that hasn't sold to be subject to private treaty afterwards.

A railway that is setting up a dining train and has recently also purchased a RMB for the purpose perhaps?

I think you have misunderstood me, I am saying that is the reason given from the railway in question.

Not my place to say I’m afraid other than no not there, wrong part of the UK.

Possibly, although given the scope of restoration that would likely be required it's not such an impediment, although another reason for the price tag to be seen as possibly a little high.

This might be publicly accessible? If not:

"The auction of Llangollen Railway PLC assets by LSH concluded earlier today. Provisionally and subject to auctioneer's confirmation on Friday, the LR Trust was the highest bidder on the Case Rexquote Road Rail Vehicle (RRV), Plasser Theurer 12t Rail Crane, Lowmac Wagon with Atlas Crane and Mk1 TSO M4858 adapted for wheelchair users. This is encouraging news indeed and very well done to the Trust team who managed the bids. Massive thanks to all those who have answered the call and donated over £20,000 to our Rolling Stock Appeal in just two weeks. There was brisk interest today and sale prices were much higher than expected. The accessible coach alone required a bid of over £30,000 to be successful. Additional donations are therefore very welcome indeed. Both our Rolling Stock and Full Steam Ahead appeals remain open. Thank you again!"

Well, that's good to hear that they manged to get some stuff. Hopefully the auction has covered the outstanding owed money.

I very much doubt the auction has covered the outstanding debts, the debts were the balance sheet value of the PLC plus a further £300k on top of this. Although the sale of assets has been suggested to have been more successful that expected, it would still seem to be significantly short of the amount owed to their creditors.

Bottom line is that creditors such as the Patriot and Morayshire groups are still going to be out of pocket unfortunately.
