It appears that the plan to destroy the loco in Norway had to be abandoned on environmental grounds, and will now be restaged in the quarry near Wirksworth. So presumably the loco seen on the GC may well make a return to the UK.

I have seen a photo of 2 GBRF locos involved in a filming job on the NYMR, also allegedly linked to Mission Impossible, but have no more info (does anyone).

The loco near Bassenthwaite is unrelated in all regards, and was used for Murder on the Orient Express.

    Hi Colin
My post refers to the title of this thread - the "French" Pacific that was tested at the GCR last year which is loosely based on a Brit outline.

Just seen a video of it running on NYMR, what propels it or is it simply pushed by another loco?

There are some quite amusing Facebook posts on this, with people saying ‘It’s a waste of a historic train, why didn’t they build a replica’

Couple of pictures from twitter of the foreign Brit taking the plunge IMG_20210820_202845.jpg IMG_20210820_202848.jpg

Mr Cruise was watching the action from one of the fields in the background.

It’s not the loco that’s the problem - who was the p/way engineer that signed off that as a suitable running line? A bridge that stops half way? It was an accident waiting to happen …

BTW, am I alone in being disappointed that a crashing steam locomotive didn’t result in a vast Hollywood fireball explosion at the end? Are standards of excess slipping?
