I recall travelling on the EUR150 trains in 1996, when 70000 did the honours and the trains started at Ipswich (69621 was also due to take part but had problems). It's quite a frightening thought - where have these last 25 years gone??

I did one of the return trips as well, plus the preserved Class 306 electric unit was running special trips from Ipswich to Harwich, so I went on one of those as well. The former Ipswich Depot where the main display of rolling stock was held is now a housing estate...

Steam Dreams have returned to running operations and what a comeback for them to run Flying Scotsman. Captured 4 times on her 2 trips today, at Shere Heath, Virginia Water, Addlestone, and a somwhat fast passing at Gomshall to top it all off!

Odd to see camera flashes from the cab in the last shot at Gomshall - I wonder what was being photographed.

I've looked back at that clip multiple times noticing that flash, and I honestly can't say what it was. There were a lot of people behind me on the platform, including 2 BTP Officers. Nobody was too far over the edge, and my tripod was no where near the yellow line (those poles where the foot crossing used to be would've been right infront of Scotsman as she climbed up the hill otherwise)

It does seem like someone, or something, goes back into the train after the last flash. Could it have been a passenger taking pictures on their phone out the window?

RE: the London paddington tour to Bath and Bristol has been redated to the 28 November 2021, it dosent say what's hauling the tour, but on the bath xmas market its 60163 on the 30 November (P.S. hoping this originally on the 8 April was going to be hauled by 61306 has been rostered) think ile just swap my booking for another steam dreams tour cos I'm doing the R.T.C. Tin bath trip on November 28, if the indie covid strain dosent scupper it up.

Well I can assure absolutely nothing was photographed from the cab as I was sat in the fireman's seat! If you look closely the flashes came from the 3rd or 4th coach back.

I'd probably say there is your answer Deepgreen.

Looks like it - thanks. Passengers really should be aware of dazzling innocent bystanders with flash (only joking - the reverse of the usual problem of driver dazzle!)

Is the trip from Paddington to Southampton running this Sunday? No sign of any timings on RTT yet...

Well seeing what loco is being used, that may give you a hint as to why there's no timings

Guess I'll just keep an eye on Traksy on Sunday morning then. The SD website indicates a 0948 departure from Paddington.

The timings for the Paddington to Southampton and Salisbury charters are now available at Realtime Trains.

I thought the better of including the links.

Note that the charter stops at Laverstock North on the Southampton to Salisbury section and is then diesel hauled the short distance into Salisbury. <BJ>

If you see me around, say hi. I'll be onboard between Basingstoke and Basingstoke via Southampton and Salisbury. Not likely to be missed in head to foot Tango!

The rumoured "Tender First Running" has been proven to be false as a result, and will mean a diesel tagging along for the ride as well.

RTT shows the run going from DR to UR through p4 at Maidenhead and then back again. I wasn't aware of a trailing crossover at Maidenhead West that would allow this. Am I out of date?

You might be as the track configuration does need to allow access to the Bourne End branch and as far as I can see that option is available. Could well also be a gauging matter.
