Yes. The tender is near enough complete. It will probably need a rub down and a couple coats of varnish to freshen it up before going into service.

May have a 'pass out' on Thursday and fancy a trip to the 'Valley if weather looks as if it's worth making the trip from 'Ampshire. I note from SVR Live that 6960 and 75069 may be working; can anyone advise which way each is facing please? Thanks, Andy

Fairly certain 6960 was facing Bridgnorth yesterday.

Just add, that while the svrlive claims it's 75069 this week, the main website says 2857 and sure enough 2857 is about to back on the set at KR.

svr.co.uk is (usually) updated with changes, whereas SVRLive is not.

But it was 34027 originally so it was changed to say 75069!

I'm a volunteer at the GCR and caught sight at the weekend of a memo issued in April which stated that our reciprocal travel arrangements with the SVR have been suspended until further notice. The way it was worded suggested it was the SVR who had enforced this. Can anyone shed any further light on this? I should state this is not a criticism, the SVR is my favourite preserved railway (aside from the GC of course) and I've enjoyed so many fantastic visits over the past 25 years since I was a wee nipper and I have no intention of that changing now whatever the price of a visit!

The events of the past 15 months would make it completely understandable for any railway to withdraw their reciprocal travel arrangements between volunteers of another only this sounded quite terminal. I do hope there hasn't been a falling out between managements that those on the ground aren't aware of!

It's not GC specific, it's suspended for all railways who have a reciprocal arrangement for AFAIA the time being (unless further changes have occurred very recently).

Thanks, that alleviates my concerns somewhat. As I said earlier it's completely understandable and I still intend on making many no doubt enjoyable visits this year. Indeed those I have already have been excellent :)

There hasnt been an NBI or any communication about the reciprical travel? If it was to become permenant. It would widen a rift that is already developing.

It must have passed you by!

Phil Ralls' updates were carried in Express Points (SVR Working Members' Newsletters) in October 2020 and February, March and May 2021 (archive at https://www.svrlive.com/eparchive). EP is one of the SVR's official communications channels for updates with its staff and working members (SMS, section D2).

There's also the page on SVRLive https://www.svrlive.com/reciprocal-travel which included a notice at September 2020 that the SVR had suspended (my emphasis) reciprocal travel.

Just a reminder for any readers that tomorrow and thursday are 6960's planned final runs of the current boiler ticket.
