    Back to Ferry Vans (sorry!).
Attached is a scan of the only picture I can find. This happens to be the one nearest to Alresford Car Park (as I write this). It looks as though it has a 'For Condemnation' label, so it must have gone into Internal use soon afterwards. (For completeness it's IU number was 083644. The other vehicle is ex-GB889203, ex- 21 70 1397 003-1, IU No. ??????.
The body sides have evidence of tin worm in places. Their future - we'll have to wait and see.

There was no working party atop the hill yesterday - however........ since I woke up at the time I usually do for work (05:00!), but not having to do any overtime on a Saturdday, for a change, and not wanting to veg at home, I took myself up to the yard atop the hill!! o_O

As I was on my own, I made others aware that I was down the bottom of the yard, just in case. ;)

So, after a brew & a bacon bap, it was time to progress the GPV some more......

First job was to divest the interior of all the long lenghts of timber we had stored in there for use on the door frames, followed by getting rid of any rubbish that was strewn along the floor & then have a sweep up, That done, it was time to make a start on making the solebar more presentable, though the headstocks & buffers were left alone given they were wet & need taking right back.

After giving the existing paint work a scratch & a brush off, it was time to give the inside of door #4 the same treatment, along with the two shoot bolts and one D bolt.

That done it was out with the undercoat, so with the radio for company, by the end of the day all items were bought up to 2nd undercoat - not a bad days work for one bloke, though proceedings were interupted when some shifty characters were spotted at the top of the yard..... upon investigation, it was the ULS 'on tour' including my Ropley Spy, :Shifty: dropping off some useful stuff, rather than nicking it, for transfer with the Atlas down to Alresford at a later date..... the fact the that my Ropley Spy had made a rare trip out of the confines of his usual stomping ground saved me a trip, as he divested my wallet of next years subs, plus a donation! They eventually left whilst reminding me that its the ULS open day on the 3rd of next month..... :Banghead:

It was good to see the trains well loaded with families enjoying a day out, as well as a short freight out as well - its always gratifying to see some of the fruits of our labours out and about! :)

A couple of pics of the trains yesterday.

Blimey it rained all evening here about 200 yards away, apart from a brief spell when Richard turned up with the 20 for a spot of stock moving! Good to see Teddy safely here

Latest diesel gala update is that sadly 47579 isn't very well and shan't be taking part. Good news is however 47580 has been lined up as a last minute substitute.

I'm more interested in alcohol than in diesels!

    Ooh stick you!

I assume you'd only gone because Aqua and Rednexx were on the bill. ;)

:) I did see Rage Against The Machine and Slipknot on the same stage later on the same day before copping off with a rather nice young lady whilst watching Stereophonics, waving and saying hello to Graham Coxen from Blur (amongst others) the following day whilst swigging from a warm can of Tennants backstage is still one of my favourite ‘did that really happen moments?!’ :):)

I was going to ask if it was Daphne or Celeste but I am not sure they were over 16 at the time.

I can't say I blame you for finding something else to do during the Stereophonics set.

Warm Tennants was apparently Ian Curtis' drink of choice.

I did binge watch 'We are Ladyparts' this week. If you haven't seen it check it out.

According to some comments on the Facebook page, it was successfully run in Push Pull mode yesterday.

As is proper, the London end being for a 4REP .... but that's an entirely separate can of worms, best left unopened for the time being! ;)

Yep, it was quite happily running in push-pull mode all day. Quite surreal watching it pull away in complete silence until the 73s on the back got into earshot...
