Probably best, if you’re going to quote somebody, then quote them accurately.

I said that I would be surprised if ID cards had been withdrawn. I quickly discovered that, yes, some had been withdrawn and, yes, I was surprised.

You may also recall that in an earlier post I stated that I was not in favour of withdrawal of ID cards, but I see that you chose to ignore that one.

Have I read the last few pages correctly?

The Trust gave money to the PLC for a specific purpose in line with the requirements of the Trust's charitable status.
To date the work associated with that has not been undertaken.
The Trust is checking where that money rests currently and when the work will be done.
The Trust will otherwise withdraw the funding as would be required by its status.
There is no clear answer being given about the status of this funding.
For some reason this has all surfaced publicly rather than being handled privately and internally by the Trust and PLC?

If all the above is correct, what business is it of anybody other than the PLC and Trust and why is it all on here?

You were surprised, did nothing, said nothing and carried on slavishly defending the board. To paraphrase Donald Trump the PLC Board could shoot someone in the middle of The Avenue in Minehead and you'd still be supporting them and blaming the victim for getting in the way of the bullet.

And since we are into quoting accurately - let's just go back and look at what you actually said:

So you were wrong about the action, wrong about the people who posted the information, and while you didn't support the removal of cards, you did think that the 10 should no longer be involved with the WSRA which is little more than 'Here's a gun, shoot yourself so I don't have to shoot you.'

Considering the conflicts of interest, there is perhaps concern that the trust is not being as rigorous as it should be in ensuring that money donated is being spent as it should be.

    See http://www.wsr.org.uk/news.htm#2358 as of the 27th .

I can't say that I regard it as particularly impressive. £50K seems a very low 'interim target' for a £1M total, that implies about 20 stages!

They are neither outrageous nor out of place. And if I were looking for things that are outrageous and out of place I'd be looking at the actions of the PLC and WSSRT boards rather than comparisons or examples on a discussion forum.

Whatever next - will the '10' be accused of going on WSR TV and urging volunteers to storm the Plc offices at MD ?

Yes but when you are only bringing in around £3k a week, we are still nearly six weeks away from reaching that target

This is supposed be a heritage railway thread, no a political one. so there are more suitable ways of putting your case.

If I didn't think they were suitable comparators I wouldn't have used them.

In what way is removing the cards of your opponents not a political action?

    It isn't even that:

As per @D1039 spreadsheet. The total on the 21/7 was

    21/07/2021 £ 31,761 total

    If we go by http://www.wsr.org.uk/news.htm#2358

    27/7/2021 £32,793.44 total

This suggests to me that in the last week they raised £1032.44

I am happy to be corrected if I have misread the figures.

    Hmm...

IIRC there was a figure of £31,761 on 21 July (if memory serves it was a totaliser copied into this forum*), which gives £2,341 and £1,032 for the two weeks in question.

Ah well, I've added this week's data to last week's spreadsheet, it's a doddle to do so now it's set up. It's now on two pages with a graph and everything! A reminder that this is just my analysis of public information and that in this version the promised future energy savings are deducted from the appeal total rather than included as cash raised.

No you are right, I just reread the article and hadn’t noticed it missed last weeks total out.

    Basically even worse performance then.

Only another 16 weeks to go then to reach the interim £50k target at that rate, and then another 8 years to get to the half way £500k mark...

£16.4k per week required, £2.9k per week raised. Hmm sounds like an expensive cricket match.

What’s quite amazing is the appeal is obviously failing, yet radio silence is being maintained about it on the Facebook page rather than any attempt to stimulate it.

Ironically, there is a post on the Facebook page today about an appeal though - the WSRA one.

Have a look at post #39236 and you will see that on July 21st, the total was £31,761. If we are at £32,793 on July 28th then that's £1k a week. More savings are required so they can be counted as donations....... unless we only count money that is actually received, of course.

(Edited to add that D1039 has also spotted it and put it more eloquently in his spreadsheet.)

I am really shocked. Surely a big outside railtour would be a prime chance to get people to donate - especially as those who went on the tour have spoken highly of the WSR.

I was expecting a big increase in donations last week not a decrease.

    It is brutal.

The £1m appeal was split into £500,000 for SOS and £500,000 for infrastructure.

I think that rail comes under infrastructure and so proceeds from the WSRA rail appeal should logically go towards the second £500,000 appeal, but I'll wait and see how the WSR treats it...
