Meanwhile I can't see it at all, the Facebook page being one of those that come up blank for me. Any chance of someone posting a picture here?

Nice idea, not sure about the font though, I'm no expert but it doesn't look quite right. It does look smart though.

It's different, I'll grant them that. Not sure it appeals but better than being stuck in a siding gathering rust.

I like it, at least it is not black!! ... I'll get my coat...

I have no issue with locos wearing something a bit different, we are after all still creating history and this loco has already broken down plenty of barriers. This hobby should also be about having a bit of fun too, there are plenty other small prairies in 'authentic' liveries.

Does anyone know if the ones (OK they were 45xx, not ‘4575’ class) that were transferred to The Rhondda and Swansea Bay Railway carried that lines livery, whatever that was? (They were renumbered)

It makes a welcome change from the usual limited range of either Grouping or BR liveries. I think it is really good to see some of the small pre-grouping company liveries recreated. It fits with the line, gets some publicity. Excellent work from the S&C.

I do love the livery. However would be nice for other pages to credit the photographer! I don't necessarily mind my image being used elsewhere, but it's always nice to be recognised, even if you too it on a phone...*ahem*!

I saw the Engine in the SCR shed last wednesday and at that point there was no lettering on it, so must have been quickly applied between then and last weekend. It is just temporary I guess for the few months it will be at the SCR and gives a flavour of the old MSWJR railway.

It is London Transport colour. I didn't notice until another volunteer pointed it out that as well as the air pump modification, it has still has a trip cock on the front right hand guard iron which is used by London underground so it trips if a red signal is passed putting the brakes on, so makes you wonder if further London underground runs are planned with it in future, hence continuing with the non authentic colour. Anyone know ?

You have my sympathy. However, you should take that up with the Facebook poster, "Stephen Dave Bourne". If he had credited you in his post then that would have shown up in the screen-shot posted here

My understanding is that before covid, September 2020 was supposed to be the last Steam on the Met before upgrade work prevented further runs. However the upgrade work has been postponed to sometime next year, so it is theoretically possible for one last Steam on the Met before then.

L150 has been announced as a visitor to the Epping Ongar Railway's London Transport Weekend (8-10 October). More info https://www.eorailway.co.uk/events/london-transport-weekend/

According to the RCTS part 10 absorbed engines : “Seven G.W locomotives were transferred to the R&SB in 1907
taking the numbers 2, 29-34. The most interesting were Wolverhampton built 2-6-2Ts G.W Nos. 2165-7, which
became R&SB Nos. 31-3.. Two of these were transferred to thevP.T.R after two years resuming their GWR
numbers, but No.33 remained on R&SB until Jan 1914 when it returned to the GWR fold to be renumbered
    4506 “ QUOTE END.

    Hope this helps Michael Rowe

    Thanks.
I wonder what the R&SB Livery was?

Since the renumbering of locomotives allocated to the R&SB was, apparently, solely because only that company's locos and not those of the GWR had the right to enter Treherbert station I expect it can be assumed that they remained GWR green.

I really quite like it. I think it looks smart and as a short term way of resurrecting a livery where we have no locos capable of authentically wearing, I think it's a brilliant idea. Just a shame I won't be able to pop down and see it in the flesh!

Perhaps the Andrew Barclay at the SCR could go into a similar livery more permanently, no more inappropriate than the BR livery it's in and it allows more people the chance to see what a MSWJR liveried loco would look like hauling a train on the old MSWJR!

According to GWW it was "black, picked out with blue and vermilion", but apparently no good in service photo of an R&SB locomotive in service has been found to tell us exactly what that means. GWW also tells us that post 1912 coaches and wagons were painted in GW colours, but kept R&BSR 'branding', but is silent on locomotives. Photos in Russell seem to suggest that R&SB locomotives had no lettering and an oval number plate in the centre of the tank. As in their very early days the 2-6-2Ts also had number plates in the middle of the tank that seems likely, but oval or rectangular is anyone's guess unless someone else knows more. I suppose the Welsh Railway Research Circle might be a good port of call.
