I don’t work for West Coast but I assume they would call in another driver and a conductor driver (non steam ) who had the route knowledge

Thanks for taking the trouble to look this up and this great record of the event. Much appreciated

It was a pleasure. Since moving to the North Cotswolds 3 years ago I've met so many like minded railway people, many of whom work for the TOCs who do so much to inform me of 'What's On'.
My comment about Six Bells I realise now was a bit confusing. The trip on Six Bells with the Brush 4 to Long Marston was on the 3rd October 1987 but the railtour that apparently did happen with 35028 indicated by the two pictures I have seen occurred the next day and it's this one that does not appear on Six Bells.

This is Clan Line passing Ascott on 4/10/87 on the day in question. Those were the days when you didn't get stopped for random reasons!

    Great shot, @Big Al , but I don't think it's Ascott(-underWychwood) since there's no over-bridge at Ascott. I think it's more likely Moreton-in-Marsh?

Edit: I've just zoomed in on the signal box - the sign indeed says "Moreton-in-Marsh Signal Box"

Indeed it is. Should have looked at the caption. Those who have seen this image before and know where it was published recently will see the irony of me making the mistake!!

It does look good with a mk.1 support coach. The Raspberry Ripples are not so good.

Just my own opinion of course. <BJ>

I quite agree. Unfortunately, they were part of the scene back in those days.

As does the single track, and the consequent absence of a down platform and a hideous footbridge to access it!

A lot of effort goes into getting it ready. Clan Line at home this afternoon. (Phone pic)

At least that footbridge keeps to within a reasonable distance of the railway on either side and has been painted relatively sympathetically. '28 will be passing a far worse (the UK's worst?!) example today at Gomshall! A small section of the enormous sprawling structure is shown:

One day I'd love it if '28 was allowed to go to matt grey/brown with a few stains dribbling from various points! However, the paying passengers understandably love to see the gleam, and it is a huge credit to the team. I've recently put one of my late father's cine collections on YT and there's a clip of 35003 leaving Waterloo in 1967 in halfway between the two extremes of condition:

I agree entirely. As it happened, I'd arranged a lunch date in Gomshall on 4th June, so here is my effort to 'make the best of it' at Gomshall station in the rain! 0280 b&w.jpg

I once suggested turning our Clan Line in this state for old times sake. I got a two word answer!
