Isn't the answer obvious? Multi-gauge the W&L with the 2ft outside rail on the north and the 2ft 3in outside rail on the south. Simples! Oh look, it's my medication time ..... :Wacky:

Can't wait to see 699.01 attacking Golfa Bank. I just hope it can happen before ZB No.2 goes home. What a mouthwatering sight those two in harness would make, crossing at Castle Caereinion!

Some further information which might be of interest to people:

"After a busy August, we are looking forward to extending our train services to the end of October and are pleased to be able to offer a range of pre-bookable experiences on both railways. As we will be regulating the volume of trains to match demand, not all experiences will be available every day so please check for the period you are planning to visit to see what is available.

Our Back to Blaenau service has proved very popular and will be continuing through to the end of October on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with one train per day, giving a 90-minute break in Blaenau Ffestiniog to explore, have lunch and perhaps a little shopping.

The Snowdonia Star and Harbourmaster trains, which give a full-length journey on the Welsh Highland Railway will also run on most Fridays and Saturdays. One-way tickets are available on these and other services in either direction for onwards travel. One-way tickets may be booked by telephoning 01766 516024.

Bygones Weekend. 8th to 10th October

The Ffestiniog Railway has been running passenger trains since 1865. Of course, it has seen many changes, and many carriage liveries as trends and management changed. This event gives a chance to see trains from some of the significant periods of this historic company. There will be trains from Porthmadog to Beddgelert, Blaenau Ffestiniog and Tan y Bwlch throughout the weekend. In addition, there will be a gravity slate train on both Saturday and Sunday, and also some good trains. Bookings are by compartment which generally hold up to six people and may be booked online in the usual way. There will also be some staged photographic sessions on Friday and Saturday which should also be pre-booked. For more information, graphs, and train formations, check out our events page on the website at https://www.festrail.co.uk/bygones-weekend/

Over the Bygones weekend, both the heritage Glaslyn Venturer and the Back to Blaenau services will be free to members of both societies. The Woodland Wanderer and Gelert Explorer follow the usual rules. Photo sessions are a flat rate of £7.50 for all.

Tickets for Bygones weekend and other services to the end of the season will be available online from Tuesday 24th August.

    Evening All,

A further short video from my trip to Porthmadog in June can now be seen on YouTube. It stars WELSH PONY at Harbour Station and at Three Gates Crossing with PRINCE and BLANCHE in supporting roles. If anyone would like to have a look, it's here:

    Hope it's of interest.

    Ron.

Great stuff. It is lovely seeing the small locos in action and so much activity at TyB.
Obviously it will be brilliant when we don't need any restrictions and mitigations, but at least there are some silver linings!

Many thanks for posting. When I can't get to any my favourite lines, it's the generosity of folks such as yourself, sharing your clips which keeps me sane (..... or as near 'sane' as I ever get) :)

Thanks for your kind comments chaps. I took quite a lot of video while I was there, but I'm breaking it down into shortish films so they don't get too boring. So there will be some more to come in due course, but if you haven't seen all my FR films on YouTube, they can all be seen in this Playlist:

Six wheel bug boxes, three on on each train.

I think I have it right that however much it’s livery might seem like a BR freight van the end vehicle with the Birmingham’s is the restored quarrymens coach.
